Billy Connolly has to be up there as one of the best, saw him on one of his last live shows a few years ago just before he was diagnosed with Parkinsons. He wasn't at his peak but still funnier than most other comedians.
Max Wall i remember vaguely with his bald head and funny walk but i was too young i think to appreciate the humour.
I'm a big fan of the likes of Tim Vine and Stuart Francis (the Canadian not the crush a grape Boltonian) as i love those one line puns. Also thought Ben Elton when he was in his prime back in the 80's was very funny and had one of his shows on tape that i used to listen to a lot.
