Coyle's reaction to the result is in:

Owen Coyle disappointed after the 2-1 loss at St Andrew's

Owen Coyle felt that it was a missed opportunity at St Andrew’s after Wanderers were beaten 2-1 by Birmingham City.

The Bolton boss was left frustrated at the result, believing his team’s performance merited more.

Speaking after the full-time whistle, he said: “We controlled the early parts of the game and were settling in well, being the team in the ascendency. So to concede from what was Birmingham's first real move upfield was a setback.

“But we got ourselves back into the game and fought our way back, we created a couple of good chances and were worthy of the equaliser which was a great goal from Chris Eagles. It was fair that we went in even at half-time.

“We were disappointed with the penalty decision that gave them the lead again a minute into the second half and from then on we battled hard to get back into the game.

“Our travelling fans kept with the players all night and really got behind them as we went in search of our second goal.

“Their goalkeeper Butland has a good reputation and he showed why by making a couple of fine saves. We tested him a number of times but we couldn't get that break to bring us back on level terms.

“We are six games in and there is no doubt we wanted a bigger points tally than we have at this stage. We have taken seven out of nine points on home turf and are unbeaten at the Reebok, and we want that on the road too.

“We put a lot into the game and the least we deserved was a draw, but it wasn’t to be.

“Jay Spearing came off earlier in the match and he will be assessed in the next couple of days ahead of our game at Sheffield Wednesday.”

Ah more spurious shite spouted by the clueless cunt, when is he going to realise that praising the fans no longer works for us, he is an inept twat, backed up by a gang of goons who would be lucky to get a gig in the Conference, do the right thing Coyle and fuck off.

Nobody can seriously think Coyle can turn it round. It was evident from the Burnley match that all this long ball shit wouldn't be near enough to get us a promotion place (I could have told him that before the season began), yet it's still the only system we've tried to date. What struck me about Birmingham tonight was how patient they were in terms of getting the ball from one end of the pitch to another. Then there was Bolton, whacking it long at any given opportunity.
For hoofball up to you-know-who to still be Plan A is bad enough. For Coyle to refuse to change it when it's proving as ineffective as it was tonight when we've got other options on the bench is a joke.

Listening to the interview on GMR, Coyle seemed to not realise that Gartside had set a aim of 2 points per game.

The convo was pretty much (cut down for forum sake):

Interviewer: Having been set a 2 point per game target do you not feel under pressure?

Coyle: I have not heard of anyone stating a 2 point per game ratio

Interviewer: Gartside did

Coyle: ... blah blah.. thats over 46 games not 6 ...blah blah ...

Basically it sounded like Coyle hadn't no idea about this statement until the interviewer explained that Gartside said it when then he babbled for a bit and started going on about that being over the whole season.

When Gartside released this im pretty sure everyone universally agrees that he meant an average of two points per game straight away, since if its not happening now then why would it even itself out over the season?

Just seemed odd, and a bit frightening that Coyle had no idea of what the Chairman expects.

He also preceded, as he does after EVERY match to totally blame the ref, now ok the ref did seem to have a bad game, but we have apparently been having bad decisions for the past 18 months.... I don't think so. The Bury boss was interviewed after, with his team having dominated but given away two penalties and very unfairly lost 3-0, in this scenario Coyle would have blamed the ref %100..... Shirtliffs response was that you make your own luck, and basically you can only get these decisions if your in the place to get them and that it was the players fault for letting the opposition have a penalty claim - this I agree with, you make your own luck, and im getting so tired of Coyle blaming the ref.

And we still only manged to score from a set piece, in the Prem this is fine, we just need a few points to survive and set pieces can win a few games (shame we were shite at set pieces last year), but when your meant to be a title challenger you need the quality to be able to score from outfield play, and we haven't done so in THREE games now.

Ive stuck up for Coyle a lot, but if we lose to Wednesday, or play shite but get lucky, im going to be on the Coyle Out bandwagon.

We are 7 points behind Blackburn tonight ..... 2 wins a draw to be found somewhere in this season. After Saturday it's likey at least 3 wins ..... so after 6 games we are looking up and chasing. Of course it's daft to worry so early on in the season but can somebody tell me how this outfit is a top three team? Another couple of weeks and we will be four or five games out .....if that happens we can resign ourselves to lower to mid table at best IMO.

Tony Kelly was sat with the Wanderers fans at Birmingham yesterday and he is convinced that it is only a matter of time before we click.

Although we lost yesterday the team actually played quite well.

Thanks RT. I too believe we were not that bad and on another day would have seen 3 points for us. If we were still shocking then I would be of the Coyle out mindset but right now I remain just about optimistic.

No offence to Tony kelly but he will say that, he was given his current job on coyles watch and isn't going to come out and slate the manager of the club he works for.

I hate to see managers sacked but if the board really want to get us up on the first attempt we need a change of manager.

Even though some thought we played well, I think we need to take a step back and have a look at the team, and their history, over the last couple of years. No matter how you work it, we are in decline, and at this rate the division won't matter. The prospects are gloomy, even if we win a game or two. We have a poor manager, and underperforming players. Although I believe the manager is failing in tactics and motivation, the players need a kick up the arse as well. They're taking lots of money, and giving very little in return. Unfortunately, the only person who can begin to remedy this, is the manager. Its a vicious circle, and, to my mind, can only be broken by removing/replacing the manager. Until that happens, I see the whole set-up in similar fashion to the little boy playing on the beach, with his back to a big wave on its way in. Just ignoring it, doesn't mean that it won't get you.

It seems there was a few relatives and ex-players in the crowd last night. I was sat in front of Marcos Alonso Snr. and his woman (presumably Madre Alonso) after half time. Conveniently, Alonso had a very decent second half.

I also saw a bloke who was the spitting image of Coyle, and he had a Scottish accent. He was also the only person that clapped the team off.

Why would he be bothered? He'll get a fat pay off and then some other foolish club will fall for the Coyle hype and pay him more than we do.

I have little sympathy for the club though, they could easily write something into a contract to stipulate he gets jack shit if they fall below a certain level.

If Coyle does go, Phil "The Power" Gartside should go too.

We need people with fresh ideas and forward thinking at the club.

Even when we were established as a Premiership club the mentality was still lower league. Choice of managers typified the lack of ambition. That attitude leads to one thing - playing in the lower leagues like we are now.
