Dennis Politic has confirmed that he will be side-lined for some time – but has vowed to come back stronger and help Wanderers fight for promotion.
The 20-year-old posted a message of thanks on his official Instagram page for the messages of support which have flooded in since he was stretchered off in a pre-season friendly game at Loughborough University on Tuesday lunchtime.
The club has yet to confirm the exact nature of the injury or how long his recovery will be – but the winger has been pictured wearing a brace support on his right knee and using crutches.
Politic is one of the brightest prospects to come out of the Wanderers academy in the last few years, having joined the club from Manchester United at the age of 15.
“Sometimes we don’t understand why things happen the way they do,” he wrote. “But I trust that God knows better and has a reason for everything.
“I am gutted to pick up this injury which will keep me off the pitch for a while but I will be back stronger by his grace.
“Thankyou to all my team-mates and the staff for all the support they have shown me through this tough time and will continue to do so. Also a big thankyou to the fans for the encouraging messages that I have received, I appreciate it a lot!
“I’m sure I’ll be back soon to help the team fight for that promotion we deserve.”
