They'll need to be maintained for the next 300 years or so if humans are still around to do it.
Unless we can bury the nuclear waste in a third world country....

Yes. It takes 275 thousand years for the radiation to clear from the rods, if I remember. Need to send them into space.

We've already fly-tipped a bunch of crap into our immediate vicinity. Perhaps we could send Elon Musk up to Mars with all the world's nuclear waste? He's allegedly big on environmental issues.

Yes. SpaceX could do it. Though, take it into orbit and send it off on its merry way into deep deep space. Gone forever.

Just finished watching Chernobyl....truly horrifying stuff....brilliantly portrayed on screen.

I recently watched that as well Okocha. Truly scary. (the program, not you  Very Happy)

Good idea, switch off all the reactors, and then watch as half the lights, and everything else, follows suit across the globe.

Your idea of firing the waste into space isn't as far fetched as it first seems.
