Ian Evatt insists he has a clear vision of how to fix Wanderers’ winless start to the season.

After analysing Saturday’s 1-0 defeat against Forest Green, the head coach is determined to correct course quickly.

His side head to Colchester United this weekend looking to avoid a fourth successive defeat in all competitions – but Evatt remains confident he can fix his team’s issues quickly, quelling some of the frustration which has lingered over the last few days.

“I think there were a couple of ingredients missing,” he said of the Forest Green defeat.

“I think I learned a hell of a lot. In a strange way, and I can’t really express the words which will make people understand, but I think on Saturday we’ll be having this conversation and you’ll say ‘yes, I see what you saw, and you’ve cracked it.’ That’s how clearly I can see what is missing, and I know how to fix it.

“We’ll work hard on the training ground and hopefully next Saturday I haven’t got egg on my face and you’re thinking ‘that wasn’t what was wrong.’ “I think I know how to fix this quickly and that you’ll see the difference.”

Colchester came away pleased with a goalless draw at Bradford last weekend, having themselves suffered two cup defeats against higher league opponents.

Manager Steve Ball was happy to get a result on the board and is not fooled by Bolton’s poor start and believes they will be among the promotion challengers this season.

“I’ve been delighted with every game," said the U’s boss, who like Evatt was appointed on a permanent basis this summer after a four-year spell as John McGreal’s assistant. “For large parts of both the Reading and Pompey performances, we were the better side so I knew going to Bradford we’d have nothing to fear.

“Of course, you always want to start the season with some form of points.

“We’ve got a tough start and Bolton again are going to be up there challenging.

“They’re a big club coming to our place but it’s great that we’ve got a nice foundation from the Bradford game to work hard with in the week and work hard for Bolton on Saturday."

If he hasn't seen something to fix, he's going to go all Keith Hill, I trust him to get it right eventually though.

You've given him 3 years Martin, I don't want any negative comments from you until 2023.

I don't trust him yet. Trust has to be earned and as yet he hasn't - for me it's a matter of hope rather than trust, but boy do I hope he sorts it.

I would change it in midfield and give Crawford and maybe Tutte a run out. Not been impressed with Comley so far.

I have no idea who anyone is. It could have been a Nuts 11 last week for all I know.

I'd definitely drop Norpig, Bonce & KP for this one. Fooking useless.
