Mike Flynn believes Wanderers will “come good” after his Newport side piled more pressure on his opposite number Ian Evatt.

The Exiles boss praised a perfect away display, which backed on to a Carabao Cup victory against Watford in midweek.

Newport missed a host of chances in the first half and rained 24 shots in on the Bolton goal. But in the end two second-half goals from former Norwich City front man Tristan Abrahams - which takes him on to five for the season – was enough to inflict a third successive league defeat on their hosts.

“It was an excellent performance,” said Flynn, “I think we could have scored six or seven today, if I am honest. I just said to Coops (Brandon Cooper) he could have had a hat-trick of headers, Liam Shephard could have had a hat-trick, Tristan could have had a hat-trick, Josh Sheehan missed a chance.

“It was a superb away performance against a team that is going to come good. You can see they have got good players and Ian is obviously trying to get them into how he wants them to play.

“I am sure they will come good.”

Flynn fancied his chances at the UniBol despite their midweek exertions and the distraction of another televised clash at home to Newcastle United this week.

“I was confident but one thing I’m not is arrogant,” he said. “They are in a good run of form, their fitness is excellent and they are enjoying their football. When those ingredients come off then you know what you are getting into. I knew they were going into this in positive spirit.

“Even if we had lost the day today I knew that we would have given it our all. We work hard for the football club and each other.”
