The game that has everything.
Resolving our precarious position hovering above the relegation zone, getting our season back on track, new players bedding in and showing us what they've got and what they've not, our former manager - and captain and it's blinkin' Tranmere - what more could a game do to sell itself?
Goodness knows what will happen but I hope we are brilliant - surely it must come together this week?

Preview: Tranmere Rovers vs. Bolton Wanderers

Wanderers are back in Sky Bet League Two action tomorrow afternoon with a trip to Birkenhead to take on Tranmere Rovers at Prenton Park.

Pre-Match Quotes:

Keith Hill: “It is a different game, and we have played a lot of games since we last played them. We know the style in which they play with the formation that Ian Evatt is playing with the players that he has available. We want back-to-back victories but that is not going to define our season. I want performances and I’m trying to build.”

Ian Evatt: “Tranmere are experienced, they’ve got an experienced spine of the team and obviously their manager is motivated to beat his old team. It’s going to be a difficult and challenging game – they all are. But, if we go there and play to the same level as we did on Saturday, then we will more than match any team in this league. We have to go to Tranmere with a positive mind-set and get the right result on Saturday.”

How to watch:

Wanderers supporters can watch the clash with Tranmere Rovers by purchasing an iFollow BWFC video match pass for just £10 you don’t have to miss a kick.

An iFollow BWFC video match pass will ensure supporters do not miss a minute of the action, with the entire match streamed through any compatible laptop, computer, tablet or mobile device in the United Kingdom.

Team News:

Wanderers will be without Kieran Lee who was substituted at half-time during last weekend’s draw with Cheltenham Town. Missing the trip to Tranmere with muscle tissue damage, he could well be back in contention for Tuesday’s trip to Mansfield Town.

Declan John is nearing a return to the team with tomorrow’s fixture likely to come too early for the Welsh full-back. Shaun Miller is progressing well with his rehabilitation but will also be unavailable for the trip to Prenton Park.

In the Tranmere camp, Manager Keith Hill has said there are no new injury concerns however defender Liam Ridehalgh will continue his spell on the sidelines following an injury he picked up during an FA Cup defeat to Barnsley.

Bookies Odds:

Tranmere Rovers win: 29/20

Draw: 9/4

Bolton Wanderers win: 7/4

Correct as of 22/01/2021 (12.30pm) on skybet.com

Form:

Wanderers are yet to register their first victory of 2021 and have drawn the last two outings – against Exeter City and Cheltenham Town. Despite that, Ian Evatt’s men have lost just once in their last six away fixtures with three wins (Stevenage, Scunthorpe, and Cheltenham) and two draws (Exeter and Carlisle).

Tranmere have picked up four points from their last two fixtures, backing up a goalless draw at Stevenage with a 3-2 home victory against Forest Green Rovers on Tuesday evening.

Last time out:

The last meeting between the two teams saw Tranmere come out on top with a 3-0 victory at the University of Bolton Stadium in December. Peter Clarke, Kieron Morris and James Vaughan scored the goals that day, and Wanderers were beaten 5-0 on their last visit to Prenton Park in August 2019.

Up against a very youthful Bolton team under the temporary guidance of Jimmy Phillips, Rovers earned the victory with goals from Ollie Banks, Morgan Ferrier (2), Connor Jennings and Stefan Payne. Ian Evatt and co will be looking to set the record straight tomorrow afternoon.

Match Officials:

Referee: Neil Hair.

Assistant Referees: Ollie Williams and Steven Plane.

Fourth Official: David Hunt.

I suspect we're going to get absolutely dicked today.

If Tranmere do the double over us there is no coming back for the manager, he'd have to go.

TBF he did say "if we play like we did in the last game" as if he thought we won it.
Still, hoping for great things today.

Just hopeless again! Can't start a game without conceding and we have no clue going forward until we go even further behind. As for Delaney......

Not sure why I waste ten quid on these games. I could punch myself in the face for free.

The longer it goes, the worse we seem to be getting, take Santos out of the equation, and we look a team of pub footballers, like I said in the chatbox, I really wanted Evatt to succeed, sadly he's looking out of his depth, maybe wrong time for him to step up.

Exactly Bonce feel the same, nothing to beat but we can't find a win.  Yes the ref was awful but so are we. Arthur equalises and they go down to 10 different outcome, but we are awful.

Ten quid a game and its not much fun but spare a thought for Sharon. How much a game do you think its costing her. It cost Eddie (or his family) £10m a season on average.

Something needs to change, we cannot rule out another relegation under this manager.

This club cannot afford to drop into non-league.

Evans out.

How many goals has Delaney cost us this season? But he really excelled himself today and topped it off with getting sent off which means we will be spared watching him for at least one match.
