To be fair he came into palace when they were on the verge of administration, sold a lot of their best players and only just beat the drop. His record with a team like that was never going to be great, even mourinho would have struggled.
I'm willing to give the guy a chance.

Crystal Palace have now granted Bolton
permission to speak to their manager Dougie Freedman about the vacant
position at the Reebok Stadium.
The south London club earlier rejected an official approach from
Wanderers but performed a U-turn following negotiations between the two
clubs.

Wait for what though? Theres fuck all out there, apart from waiting for someone like Hughes to be sacked at QPR and I don't fancy him coming here.
I know little of Freedman but the board obviously rate him highly or they wouldn't bother approaching him.

Unfortunately our board rating somebody highly is rarely a positive thing.
Don't know what I'd make of Freedman if he got the job to be honest, as others have said he's not exactly experienced, but then again I don't think there's anybody on the market we could get who looks better on paper. I can't really understand why he would want to come to us to be fair, yes we're a bigger club but Palace are in a great position to push on now they've sorted their finances out, seen a bit of Zaha recently and he's going to be a top, top player.
Positives are- good football (although we heard that about Coyle too) and he has a record of bringing through youth at Palace. Hopefully he would keep Sammy Lee and Phillips on in some capacity, Sammy is a quality coach and we need him around the first team.
Hopefully if he came to us he'd bring some of their best youth with him.

How about wait to see if Phillips & co can put a run of good results together? Also, we should wait until we have evaluated every single option to avoid another Megson or Coyle!
We can't avoid ex-players incase they're Coyle II, just like we can't avoid people with no previous connection to the club just incase they're Megson II. We just need to pace ourselves. Interview as many people as possible, be willing to gamble if we believe Phillips (or Freedman or anyone) is worth gambling on. If that means we don't find our new manager until Christmas or beyond, so be it.
My point is, the best way to avoid Coyle II and Megson II and finding the Big Sam II that we need, is to take our sweet time.
Also, approaching anyone and everyone will make us look desparate (ala Blackburn).

The main argument against him seems to be "lack of experience" and in the next breath it's Jimmy Phillips who's suggested.
laughable, i'll be delighted if we got Freedman, one of the names i said very early on.
that said i suspect this will have the air of a Martinez to Villa. A polite chat with our board and new Palace contract shortly after.
he's a palace man through and through it seems.

Di Canio would be great, Keith Curle has done amazing work at Notts County, and Garry Flitcroft woken up a sleeping giant. There are plenty of managers out there with a decent win ratio.

Don't know about Di Canio, would be entertaining yes, but do I really want a fascist in charge of the club? No. Do I think he'd organise our defence and get the tactics right? No.
Keith Curle hasn't done that much at Notts County he hasn't even been there a year, bare in mind what we thought of Coyle after a year.
Freedman's as strong as any of our options on paper, unfortunately he's as much of a risk as anybody else too, got to hope this gamble comes off.

Just doesn't feel right.
Let's see what it looks like after the Wolves game. We'll know where we stand after that test.

There's a lot of it about.
My hunch is that JP will get a superb performance and possibly an away win at Wolves tomorrow.
Then we'll appoint some useless fickle twat who'll change everything.
