Ahead of Saturday’s clash with promotion hopefuls Sheffield Wednesday at the UniBol, here are Wanderers’ last five wins against the Owls.

Wanderers 2-1 Wednesday (October 2017)

The Whites’ last win against the owls came four-and-a-half-years ago following an tight affair at the UniBol.

Sammy Ameobi opened the scoring with a superb strike from outside the box before the hosts doubled their lead through a Sam Hutchinson own goal.

Current Bolton midfielder Kieran Lee pulled one back for the visitors midway through the second half, but Phil Parkinson’s men held on to claim a first league win of the season.

Wanderers 3-2 Wednesday (August 2017)

The Whites seemed to be closing in on a comfortable victory in the League Cup third round but ended up having to survive a nervy final five minutes.

The hosts took a commanding lead thanks to goals from Dorian Dervite, Adam Armstrong and Jem Karacan.

But the Yorkshire club hit back through a brace from Jordan Rhodes and Wanderers had to hang on in the final stages.

Both Parkinson and Wednesday boss Carlos Carvalhal were sent off two minutes from time, with the latter involved in an altercation with a steward.

Wednesday 1-2 Wanderers (January 2015)

The Whites again had to hold on for victory despite having a man advantage in the final stages.

Neil Lennon’s side took the lead after just two minutes when Liam Feeney pounced on a loose ball and slotted home.

And the visitors doubled their lead midway through the first half when Darren Pratley found a way past Keiren Westwood with a low drive.

Chris Maguire pulled one back from the penalty spot three minutes later and the Owls finished the game with 10 men when Hutchinson was shown a second yellow card

Wednesday 1-3 Wanderers (April 2014)

An impressive display on the road as the Whites raced into a 3-0 lead inside the opening half an hour.

Neil Danns’ early opener set the tone for what was to come, with Chung-Yong Lee and Liam Trotter also getting on the scoresheet.

The hosts pulled one back through Joe Mattock but Dougie Freedman’s men did enough to bring the three points back to the North West and make it eight league away games without defeat.

Wednesday 1-2 Wanderers (September 2012)

Another successful trip to Hillsborough, this time under Owen Coyle.

The Whites took the lead through Marcos Alonso but the Owls hit back through Ross Barkley’s penalty after Anthony Gardner was brought down in the box.

But Coyle’s men stuck at it and got their reward when Mark Davies found the top corner with a ruthless strike after a brilliant run.
