Ian Evatt has confirmed that Victor Adeboyejo picked up a minor injury in his side’s 1-1 draw at Sheffield Wednesday.
The former Burton Albion striker scored the equaliser at Hillsborough just before half time but struggled in the second half with a back problem.
Evatt brought him off as a precautionary measure, with Cameron Jerome his replacement, but said after the game that Adeboyejo’s injury was not a major concern.
“Victor has got a tight back, which has put some real pressure on his glutes and his hamstrings, so he needed to come off but it is nothing too serious,” he said.
“I was very pleased with him. The way the ball stuck with him was great.
“We wanted more of a threat from Dion in behind them and we definitely got it second half, in fact it was exactly that which led to the penalty we should have been given.
Adeboyejo is cup tied for the Papa Johns Trophy, so his next competitive game will be on Good Friday at Exeter City.
Wanderers got a boost on Saturday with results elsewhere generally going in their favour around the play-off chase.
Derby County lost 2-0 at home to Fleetwood Town, their first defeat at Pride Park since October.
The Rams fell behind when Jayden Stockley’s long-range effort bounced off the bar and hit the back of keeper Joe Wildsmith.
Fleetwood then doubled their lead in the 30th minute through Carlos Mendes Gomes.
Wycombe also lost at home to fourth-placed Barnsley, with Slobodan Tedic scoring the decisive goal five minutes from full time.
That means Wanderers hold a four-point advantage over Peterborough – who moved up to seventh with a 3-0 win at Lincoln – and Wycombe, having played one game more.
Above them, there were wins for Plymouth Argyle at home to Forest Green and Ipswich at home to Shrewsbury.
Sheffield Wednesday continue to lead the table by a point from Plymouth on 78 points, with two games in hand.
