I've never been a fan of the Kyle Show and always say that I'm just an average bloke, no better or worse than the next person - but clearly I'm not, I have more values and self respect about me than ever end up on the Kyle Show or anything similar.

The Kyle shows I've seen have often featured some of the scum of society and no matter what people may try to convince me, not all of them are the way they are because they've just had a bad up brining or suffer from ADHD or some such mental health issue - some are simply not decent human beings - many of who can't seem to be responsible for their own actions or consequences of them.

I don't know this bloke who failed a lie detector test and went on to top himself but it seems he himself admitted to being a serial liar and had attempted suicide on several previous occasions

The inquest heard that Mr Dymond had a history of suicide attempts, having taken overdoses three times previously. He had also been diagnosed with both a depressive and a personality disorder.

Should the Kyle show have been pulled following the blokes death - well I think that was done due to the certainty that if the show was found to be a major factor leading to him dying, then there would be claims from all the scum who had been on the show for some form of compensation they 'suffered' because of it.

I'm glad the Kyle Show has gone - mainly because I didn't want to watch the stupid, dopey, self entitled, mentalist, bigamists, absent fathers, druggies, liars, manipulators and cheats, claim their 15 minutes of fame.

I'm pleased though that the show wasn't held accountable though - it never was to my mind - if you need to go on the show because no one believes you - then it says far more about you than it ever could about the show.

I'd hardly say he was exonerated! The coroner said there wasn't enough evidence to blame the show completely but it obviously played a massive part in his suicide.

That's simply not true???

This what the Coroner actually said...

Coroner Jason Pegg did not completely dismiss the role played by the TV show, though, saying it was "one of a number of factors". He added: "Whilst possible that the manner of his experience [on the show] added to his distress, it is not probable."

Sluffy, some people feel that they have no choice but to go on the show due to genuinely needing help and not having to wait for around 2 years or whatever it is? for the help on the NHS.

The adverts to go on the show promoted it as being a god send in providing the private help and fixing the issue without having to wait a very long time. I don’t think people just wanted their 15 minutes of fame so to speak.

Whilst I watched the program at first in my university years, it really is a program to promote real life drama and it really was liking to bear bating.

The Jezza show became that well known and famous (probably for all the wrong reasons) people felt no choice to go on their to prove they wernt a cheat to their loved ones or whatever.

I’m just glad the show has gone but it’s a shame Jezza still gets to carry on with his life without a care in the world because he really is a tosser!

So the thought of him being shamed on national telly had little bearing on his decision to kill himself?  Rolling Eyes

He should never have been on the show in the first place, they should done their background checks properly.  The show was a disgrace and was always getting people on like this chap for so called entertainment when they should have been directing them to the proper resources to get help.

Also Jeremy Kyle (or vile he is now known by) is a hypocrit. Look at the amount of kids he has with different women not forgetting him shagging the nanny behind his gf’s back.

If he stuck by the morals he was preeching then he should have got married first before pumping kids out everywhere.

He is a complete and utter scumbag. No wonder talk tv welcomed him with open arms!

He's an odious man, feeding off the misery of desperate people.
Although I often feel these poor people are complicit in their own humiliation.
All in all, a sad comment upon the society we've become.

I think most of you are all missing the point.

First of all I'm not defending Kyle or the show and secondly the show and Kyle would not have run for 14 years unless there was a huge audience for it and plenty of participants who got themselves into the mess they had, that they were stupid or moronic enough to wash their dirty laundry in public for the amusement of the huge chunk of society which revelled in the car crash private lives that were being revealed to them.

Let's not delude ourselves that these people appearing on the Kyle Show were not on the unlucky side of society, it's pretty clear that many of them had previous involvement and interaction with social services, child services, probation services, anger management counselling, alcoholic and/or drug help groups, mental health services, housing services, police and ambulance call outs not to mention the genuine help they have received from their family's and loved ones. They went down their path despite the help they were given to help stop them from doing so.

For everyone appearing on the Kyle Show there must have been (and still are) hundreds maybe thousands who have turned their lives around with all the help that is out there for them without the need to be paraded (or willingly parade themselves) in front of the nation on the show.

The show was of its time - in the way that Love Island, Strictly and Big Brother has been in theirs AND all of which have had their own scandals, not that dissimilar to what Kyle's show had.

The phrase 'give the public what they want' comes to mind here.

Society is broken and has been for a long time, the Kyle show simply showed a window into it at that time.

I'm glad Kyle and the show has gone but society hasn't got any better as the behaviour of many people during Covid showed - wash your hands and keep your distance - how hard was that to do?

And in respect of some of the points made from others above - this is what the coroner said - and he's in the best place to know ALL the facts.

'Unsafe' to infer links between show and guest's death, coroner says
published at 15:45 British Summer Time 10 September

We can now bring you a bit more detail from coroner Jason Pegg's main findings.

Dismissing The Jeremy Kyle Show as a "direct cause of Steve Dymond's distress", he said in his ruling: "These accounts are not supported with any independent expert evidence to evaluate the impact of his treatment on the show.

"It would be unsafe to infer these links in the absence of a clear and reliable causal connection.

"Steve Dymond's participation in the show is one of a number of factors, and whilst possible that the manner experience added to his distress it is not probable.

"The weight which can be attached to these accounts must be balanced with the other evidence available in the aftermath of the show including Steve Dymond's own reliability, the evidence from witnesses and the rush recordings.

"Aftercare records indicate Steve Dymond was 'emotionally contained' and expressed no dissatisfaction towards his treatment during the recording with a plan for follow-up CBT support."

Conclusion of suicide recorded

Recording a conclusion of suicide, Pegg says Steve left notes indicating his intention to take his own life.

He had a history of self-harm and suicidal intention and Dymond's mental distress was probably exacerbated by his belief that his relationship had irretrievably broken down following his participation in the lie detector test which indicated he had lied to his partner, the coroner says.

The coroner states that Mr Dymond left notes for his family, which mentioned The Jeremy Kyle show.

However, Pegg says: "There's nothing in those notes that allude to Steve Dymond having criticism of his treatment on the Jeremy Kyle show."

Aftercare plan was in place for Steve Dymond
published at 15:06 British Summer Time 10 September

Marcus White
Reporting from Winchester Coroner's Court

Aftercare records from The Jeremy Kyle Show state that Steve was emotionally contained, with a plan to follow up cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) support.

Seven days then passed before he was found dead.

The coroner recorded that: "There is an absence of reliable evidence that demonstrates that Steve's appearance on The Jeremy Kyle Show probably caused or contributed to his death. To do so would be speculative.

"Steve had a history of diagnosed personality disorder and mental illness... that had resulted in Steve previously self-harming and expressing thoughts of suicide."
