What is interesting is that up until this evening, Alan Nixon has never mentioned Sordell as a possible signing for us. He wasn't even on the radar.

It's a good job we turned down a £1m offer for Davies, with us now bringing in younger, fitter and ultimately better players!
Excellent business thinking from the club as per usual!

I'm getting nervous now. Still no confirmation. Last we heard he was discussing terms. Can we do it? I'm going to bed now so I will have to wait until tomorrow to find out.

Mentioned £3mill on MOTD which is fair enough for an unproven young striker with 9 goals from 23 for Watford. Another one we'll have to pray comes good - and stays good.
No big spending though which is pretty much what was expected before the failed bids were revealed.

The 'dirty tricks' story here! (Nixon)
Bolton boss Owen Coyle has made a £3.2million swoop for Watford striker Marvin Sordell – after a transfer feud with Cardiff counterpart Malky Mackay.
Coyle made an inquiry for Sordell during deadline day but backed off because of the price-tag and after making background checks on the young forward.
The Premier League club had contacted former Watford manager Mackay for an honest assessment of the England Under-21 international’s recent form before increasing their offer.
Mackay advised Bolton that the young forward was not yet ready for the step up, but Coyle then discovered that Cardiff had tabled a £3.2million offer for Sordell - and were whisking him to Wales for a medical.
Coyle immediately matched that bid, offering Sordell a ticket to the Premier League rather than a reunion with his old gaffer in Cardiff.
The Bolton boss had gone through a frustrating day, with moves for Crystal Palace attacker Wilfried Zaha and Middlesbrough’s versatile Rhys Williams falling short.
Palace snubbed an offer of £3.25mrising to a potential £5m with a sell-on clause, while Boro would not accept £3m for Williams.

0016: BBC Sport understands the paperwork surrounding Watford striker Marvin Sordell's £3m move to Bolton is all but done, and the move should be officially confirmed soon.

Interesting background details Sluffy. I think Sordell looks a better bet than Zaha and I was not happy at the amounts being offered for Zaha.
Maybe we can sign Williams in the summer when Boro fail to get promoted - assuming we are still in the Prem.

Will be interesting to see if OC sticks with the 4-5-1 now.

I was wondering about that.
OC didn't get the winger he was after although Ryo may be able to step up, but with another striker he has to be thinking of the future Sordell/Ngog strike partnership at some stage.
However, he has to be confident that 4 in midfield and a revamped back 4 can hold it together when we haven't got possession - something we've yet to see.

They are good choices to have though to be fair, normally struggling to even get 2 strikers fit let alone have a choice of 4.
Where is Klasnic these days? I haven't seen him on the bench recently.

Apparently Klasnic has personal problems, no idea what they are though.

What about Zaha's profile allows him to command those kind of figures, when a young player like Sordell with a bit more experience (though still young) and a better history of goal scoring, playing against equal competition to Zaha, can be had for a much more reasonable price?
What am I missing here?
