Few people dislike John Terry and oppose his leadership of the national team as much as I, but why has it taken a racial slur of which he is yet to be proven guilty to rid him of the armband?

If he's not guilty then why does he have to be stripped of the armband?

I am not his biggest fan but ''innocent until proven guilty'' comes to mind with this, unless someone knows something I don't.

Think it is wrong in the sense that Terry claims he is innocent and as not been found guilty at trial - so he is being 'punished' without proof.

On the other hand the 'talk' is all about this incident and distracts from the actual football (which at the end of the day which it is all about).

Terry can still be the captain of the team particularly on the pitch but just doesn’t have the official 'armband' on - nor do the coin toss!

Exactly, that what made our country's judiciary system the best in the world!

He's basically being sacked for merely being accused of something.

But because that something is racism, and racism is to be taken seriously, it's all alright.

Because he's a swine, he doesn't get my sympathy, but that doesn't mean to say I think it's fair.

The world has gone made where racism is concerned. I'm not for a minute justifying racism, but as soon as the word is mentioned people start wetting their pants. If Terry was acused of raping a woman I doubt there would be this much fuss.

Probably just me but in my opinion if you called another player/referee a cunt or a wanker it is worse than calling someone a black or white so and so.

I had to laugh at Rio Ferdinand coming out in the press and saying he no longer wished to have the Captains armband for England. What makes him think he will actually get a game ? His form has been shite.

I saw the video of the incident today for the first time and to be fair, you don't have to be great at lipreading to know what Terry says.

I have no doubt that he said it and I have no time for Terry. How come Suarez was not charged by the police and yet Terry was ? Is it because Suarez is a foreigner?

Think the difference was where it was reported too.

The Suarez was reported to the FA whilst the Terry one was reported to the police.

A sports body like the FA do have some rights to police themselves that most other organisations do not.

I can't understand why the police haven't stepped in. Racist abuse is a criminal offence. Do the coppers not watch the telly ?

I know the coppers in Liverpool have their work cut out dealing with all the bin dippers, scallys and
workshy fuckers but you would think that at least one scouse copper who supported Everton and had a bit of savvy about him could have felt Suarez collar. Lazy bastards the lot of them.

Some greedy Everton scouser could have rung Crimestoppers and grassed Suarez up to claim a nice reward. No wonder they are all out of work. They can't think for themselves.

Suárez and Terry have travelled along divergent rails.

The genesis of the case against Terry was a complaint to the police by a member of the public based on television replays of the Queens Park Rangers-Chelsea game on Oct 23.

The Suárez investigation has remained in-house because Evra voiced his objection on French television and found himself pursuing his grievance through the Football Association’s own disciplinary channels.

So the law of the land and football’s own law book have deposited us in a grey area where the accused can either find himself taking delivery of a court summons on his doorstep (Terry) or facing the three wise men of an FA commission at a hotel conveniently situated near a north-west motorway (Suárez).

Taken from this interesting article if anybody wants to know more -

What is very odd is the fact that the CRE did not lodge a complaint with the police. And even if they didn't there was no reason why the Police could not have taken action themselves.

Both offences were identical and yet Suarez gets an eight match ban whereas Terry could get eight weeks in prison. Where is the justice in that ?
