I'm sure we can come up with a list of management failings... but this one is egregious:

Crystal Palace have told Manchester United that if they want to
sign England winger Wilfried Zaha, 20, they will have to pay £15m
including add-ons and allow him to stay with his current side for the
rest of the campaign.

We needed another 1/2 million to sign him last year and that investment would have reduced our debt two ways... may have kept us up last season and boosted our income with PL payments and secondly selling him onward could have reduced our over-all debt by 10%.

Didn't Coyle say though that he wouldn't ask the board to pay any more than he thought a player was worth.

He obviously thought he would spend the money more wisely on Sordell from Watford.

Nice one Owen.

(Your phone still ringing?)

Of course it must be, he's the best manager he's ever been you know!

Even if Coyle had bought Zaha he would only have sat on the bench and we would still have got relegated.

Staying in the prem cost us about £10 a season, though

£10 a season? How are we in so much debt then?

Correct me if I'm wrong but relegation came last season because of the amount of goals that were conceded, scoring them wasn't the main problem. The Sordell money would have been better spent on defender / midfield player to shore up our hopeless defence but anyhow its history now and hindsight is 20/20 vision.

Regarding Zaha, he has the potential to be a great player but part from rumours and speculation the top clubs up to now haven' t put in any offers, Palace are flying a kite IMO and trying to start a bidding war. He's untried at the top level and 10-15 Million is too high a price, if Wenger and Fergie fancied him the deal would have been done by now. If he moves in this window it may well be to somewhere like West Ham or Southampton for around 5-6 Million.
