Should Employees Be Tested For Drugs?

One out of touch with reality Knight of the Realm with close connection to Camoron's Clowns has suggested that companies should test their employees for drugs. I know of one company in this neck of the woods(north west) were it is required to get a pass for site access.
I personally don't have a problem with this but is it an infringement on personal liberty? I might add that the same company also check for alcohol as well.

I think a lot depends on the job that you do. The emergency services are already subject to random drug testing and I am pretty sure that airline companies also have regulations in place for testing pilots and cabin crew.

Any job that involves public safety should have regs in place to make sure that the employee is a fit and proper person to carry out his task unhindered from the effects of alcohol or drugs.

I've actually had a few but my arse was on the twitch a few years ago after some coffee and cake in Amsterdam!

Pity the poor buggers working on the oil rigs. Alcohol is totally forbidden, even when you are not actually working.

My employees are tested three times a year for drugs and alcohol. It's totally random, they have no idea when the tests are coming.

Plenty of positive results for Viagra, but no hard drugs so far.

Tell me, why is there a requirement to test them? What is the nature of your business?

There's no official requirement as such, they just look like a bunch of druggies. We are an advertising agency.

If I get this right then its the bosees/owners that brings the work in - so in fact they should be tested more than the minnows due to various mettings and soiree's they have to attend!

PLus I am sure there are some Human Rights being broken here with not everyone being tested!!!

Yes they should. If any drugs are picked up that are illegal, then does it not show that the person is breaking the law, and therefore not trustworthy, (ok, I'm stretching the point a bit).I don't want my life in the hands of someone on a habit.

Even the most successful agencies have a presence on the web whether its just to announce their annual or half annual results or to showcase their successes with contact information, even for the more discerning customer.

No human rights are being broken, my employees know I am better than them. It's a well known fact that most common folk are shagging, drinking and shooting up. This is the only way to stop them.

This story caught my eye this morning. What a crock of shit. The van had been in for a respray and the driver wasn't even a smoker. If I was the company owner I would refuse to pay the fine.
