Royal Mail Rip Off

I don't know if you are aware, but from Tuesday the cost of sending any parcel within the UK, big or small, will rise dramatically.

Most prices have been at least doubled, some trebled.

From Tuesday it will be cheaper to send a parcel to Europe than to send it to the next town in the UK.

Quite disgraceful really. This will have a big impact on the vast majority of businesses, not to mention people who buy/sell on sites like eBay and Amazon.

I predict Royal Mail will be bust inside 2 years.

What is the reason for this rip-off ?

To try and make RM profitable.

It won't work. It's cheaper to use a courier.

Fuck me, soon you will have to plug your toilet into the mains, so they can make a shit profitable.

A lot of companies I get stuff off use that MYHermes company to deliver and i think the drivers are self employed or something, the last 3 packages I've had look like they've been stamped on.

Did anyone hear that Royal Mail representative making a fool of himself on the radio today? He tried his best to make out the changes were for the benefit of the customers because everything was simpler - but when asked what three things would cost to send via Royal Mail he got them all wrong.

Royal Mail will still be far cheaper than Post NL, so no grievances from me!

I sell a lot of stuff on ebay, so this comes as a big blow to Doffcocker International plc.

Everything is a rip off now...

Ever since those twats (im not saying it but you know who I mean) sold all our public services down the river and allowed them to be privatised.

They are all now ran for one reason - to make as much profit for the shareholders as possible.

utilities, mail, trains... No longer ran as a service but as a cash cow.

I have no problem with companies making money, I just fear for the future of Royal Mail - these new prices are just playing into the hands of DHL and all the other couriers.

Who's going to walk to a post office and pay £6 to have a parcel delivered when they can arrange a courier to collect it from their front door for £4.

But to be fair the Trains, Buses and Mail have/were running at losses for decades - hence The Beeching Report 50 years ago try nto stop the rail slide.

BUT (and its a Bolton Hater style massive BUT) the privatisation went too far in suffice they, excluding mail so far, became free market enterprises rather than regulated semi-autonomous enterprizes like in the rest of Europe.

To be fair I do hope the Royal Mail does get privatised as it does need to change (but not as freemarket as prevous privatisations) - why do we need post offices - couldn't they become franchises of newsagents - shift applications for driving licences/passports etc from Post Offices to town halls - remember its teh government that sets the prices and not local town halls so prices won't change (a more natural place to apply than the post office) - the TV licence is already in private hands.
