Quite pleased about this, he hasn't scored regularly outside League 1 I think we can do better.

What about Darren Bent on a season long loan with an option to buy?

Stupidly, Bent made his comeback at the weekend and scored a cracker, upping his value as it implied he was getting some form back.JAH wrote:What about Darren Bent on a season long loan with an option to buy?
That idiot Peter Odemwingie should be cheap though.

He scored more goals in his loan spell at Huddersfield than every one of our strikers did all season.
Flawed point.

I just hope Carlton Cole is not moving up our shortlists.

I'd be happy with Carlton Cole if we bought a nippy striker to play alongside him. Robert Earnshaw is probably available - lethal at this level.

My point was that he hasn't scored regularly outside of league 1, the fact he scored one more than Sordell or N'gog only supports that.
Flawed point.

Rob Earnshaw and Carlton Cole? I hope you're joking.

Cole to win the headers, Earnshaw to run onto the ball and score.
You can't deny Earnshaw's scoring record at this level.

His record in the Championship is 148 goals in 326 games. A goal every 2.2 games.
That's not a one hit season, that's consistent goalscoring. And he's still only 32.
He scores goals and has pace, why is it such a bad shout?

You want to lump it up to a front man and hope we win the knockdowns? Tactically inept.
Earnshaw's 32 and plays for Toronto, having just played in Israel, he's past it and has been for about 5 years. You can't argue with Ade Akinbyi's record at this level, I wouldn't sign him though.

So you've not seen him play but are branding him "past it" because he's 32 and doesn't play in the UK?
Come up with a better player who has a decent scoring record at this level and who would be affordable. I bet you can't.

I've seen him play plenty of times, what are you on about?
Im branding him past it because Forest, Cardiff and Maccabi Tel Aviv already have, and that he's 32 and the fact that he wasn't great in the first place. Even Ebanks Blake would be a better option than him!
What about Billy Sharp? I've just come up with 2 better options than Earnshaw, there are countless better strikers.
