Don't know if any of you take the train to work - or anywhere really, but I was told that the train from here into New York has a 'quiet carriage'. Apparently there are no phones, laptops, radios or talking allowed in this carriage and if you violate the 'rules' you will be escorted off the train. Do you think this is a good idea?

Virgin Trains between Manchester and London have a quiet carriage
Northern Trains have no such thing - in fact they can only have rolling stock which is 30+ years old whilst the London area can have brand new rolling stock every year.
First Transpennine also have a quiet coach, but is often ignored

All virgin trains have one. I travelled back and forth between the midlands and southampton for years and quite often sat in it.
good idea, it keeps screaming babies and rowdy tossers out.

This is the type of train we should be having, already, in the North West...

but as usual, we are still not electrified and still using Leyland Nationals (bus bodies) on freight-train wheels - which were only a temporary solution meant to last at most 10 years ago, and that was 30 years ago!!! Funny thing is these bus-trains are being withdrawn in 2019 with no replacement being ordered so what will that mean?? less trains, and more squashing up of passengers?

If some poor bugger gets squished there will be hell to play with the Health & Safety mob. Perhaps an e-mail to the Minister of Transport could prevent the kind of disaster you have just mentioned?

Strangely enough I have found out that the Government decided that the H&S remit does not cover human passengers on rail transportation!!! Thus, trains be as over-crwoded as much as they want!

They clearly need to send a rep out to Rawalpindi to see how overcrowding can cause serious harm to fare paying passengers.

I am sure that the "Little Hitler" at Salford Crescent Station could help resolve the situation and make people squash more British-like!!! In fact I insist that he goes there now!
