Sorry but I think that's bollocks, their is no way we would pay £12million for a striker in this league.
Plus if it is true then surely we can get a better striker for that sort of money?

Marc Illes is saying it's nonsense but then Nixon says different. Just don't know who to believe. Hate all this speculation etc.

Well I hope that the offer was made if only to demonstrate that the club have money for the right player and are showing some intent to bring in a quality striker.
As mentioned elsewhere, we could get a lot for that kind of money.

It's the way it was worded ' for 12m Rhodes ' It doesn't say we actually had a 12m bid knocked back tbh. I can't see us going any higher than 9 million tbh.

exactly the "enquiry" doesn't mean we've made an offer or even suggested an amount.
It could be "is he for sale" - "No"
the 12m part is just what that particular paper thinks bburn value him at.

The small article in the Mirror says this:-
Blackburn boss Gary Bowyer will move for teenage Crewe striker Max Clayton, if he loses Jordan Rhodes. Clayton is refusing to sign a new deal at Alex and could go for £2 million. ROVERS HAVE ALREADY REBUFFED AN ENQUIRY FROM BOLTON FOR £12M RHODES.

Rovers would not reject £12 million. If we bid that then it would be accepted

£12 million is silly money for somebody with no premier league experience, I know he's scored for fun in the championship and league one but there are plenty of others who've done the same and then failed in the prem.
I'd love to sign him but the figures being quoted at the moment are mad, particularly for a club in our financial state, is this really a risk the club would be considering? And is it a risk we should want the club to take? If he came and failed/ got a bad injury then we missed out on promotion again we'd be in serious trouble. Can't see us making a move for him unless we get up next year.

£12 million is a serious amount of money. We wouldn't be a million miles from being able to buy a top striker like Doumbia for that. Bony was only £13.5 million and he's class.
But realistically, rather than pay that amount of money for a prospect like Rhodes, why not keep some of it and look at a has been to get us up. Bent is for sale at £5 million, Odemwingie for £2 million and it's likely that Mourinho will want rid of Demba Ba for say £7 million. Not that they'd come without a fair bit of persuading - and want high wages - but that's Dougie's area.
My preference (and I suspect Dougie's) would be to get a relatively young player with massive potential. I know Rhodes has shown that he has the potential, but if we're in that market we could surely scour the world for the next big thing and have a decent chance of getting them if we have £12 million to play with.

I'd bring rodrigo back for that money, doubt we could persuade him though

Do we really want to give that shower of shite £12m for Rhodes. They could buy at least 3 really promising players with that money if Bowyer is allowed to spend it.
I think its just idle speculation. No way would we part with cash like that- as we simply don't have it

I certainly didn't read that to say we had bid £12m for Rhodes - just that we had bid for him and he's valued at £12m by some unnamed person.

So you reckon Dougie slipped in a cheeky bid for a tenner?

The article in the mirror said "ROVERS HAVE ALREADY REBUFFED AN ENQUIRY FROM BOLTON FOR £12M RHODES."
It doesn't actually say we have bid £12 million for him, just that we have enquired about him and Rovers have knocked us back. I think the £12 million mentioned, is either what Rovers want, or what Nixon values him at.
That's how I read it, anyway.

Not quite a tenner, but not quite £12m either. Somewhere in-between...
