No Nick, I used to like supping Black and Tan which was/is stout mixed with ale or a bitter.

I know that Old Peculier isn't a stout but I thought I would see if I could create something similar.

I also longed for this stuff (link) which is very similar in taste and looks. Ever had Ram Tam Nick?.......

I have been on the Stones bitter tonight. £2.99 for 4 tins. At 3.7 % it's not a bad slurp at that price.

I have had Ram Tam, lovely pint, don't see it round here though, nearest we get is Landlord, which is also very acceptable.

Timothy Taylor's Landlord is one of the finest beers there is.

You lucky bastards!!
I'm stuck in a hotel in Johannesburg watching lousy CNN repeats. Been out here for a few days working . And it's winter here and about 10 degrees temperature.
I'm home tomorrow morning- and I bet it starts pissing down as soon as I get home

Do they still do Castle Beer and Lion Lager? I have been on holiday to SA a number of times. Durban and Cape Town and the Kruger Park. Didn't like Johannesburg at all. A boil on the arse of Africa. That Hillbrow area was the absolute pits.

They still do Castle- it's a bit sharp and gassy.  I've been drinking it most nights- and it's still only about a quid a pint in the hotel. You're right about Jo'burg.  I always stay in Sandton on the outskirts and usually get away for at least a day up to Rustenburg as well. Jo'burg still doesn't feel safe when it starts getting a bit dark

I went to Rustenburg for the day. It was full of orange groves. Bloemfontein was nice as well. Jacaranda trees in bloom everywhere.

I spent a week camping at a place called Heidelberg Kloof. It was surrounded by mountains and the babboons used to come down at night to do a bit of scrounging.

You should have PM'd Joburg Wanderer that you were in town and you could have met up for a pint and a bit of boerewors.

I bought a bottle of Henney's dry cider from Sainsbury's before, it's 6% and it went down a treat. I'm just having a few G & T's right now, getting ready for work in the morning.

Good name for a boat.  Strangely I was watching Dynamo last night and asked someone what they would call a ship.  I asked myself the same question and thought of The Wanderer.  What a great name.
