Has anyone seen the series in full and does it get better?
I bought the box set of the first series and have watched the first 4 episodes. I wasn't sure what to expect with it being set in medieval times but I have thoroughly enjoyed it. The scenery is brilliant and the characters are quite believable as well. I'm just up to where the imp has been arrested. Good stuff and very enjoyable so far.
The guy who plays the imp is brilliant, well cast.

Stick with the rest of it you will enjoy it a lot, safe to say I am on amazon looking at the second series on dvd.

Perhaps not for everyone but the saddest film I have ever seen is on Film4 on Wednesday. A Japanese animated feature called Grave of the Fireflies - it made me cry it was so moving.

Panorama 9pm BBC 1. They are going to try and convince us that Mr Derwani who had his wife bumped off in South Africa is innocent. Despite the fact that they have telephone evidence from his mobile phone to his wife's killers leading up to the murder.

Last ever episode of Dexter on Sunday. It will be interesting to see how they end this. The final series has been one of the weakest but it still manages the occasional surprise.

Cult sci-fi movie Dark Star is on Film4 on Friday. Despite being made on a tiny budget in 1974 this is probably the funniest sci-fi movie ever made. It was directed by John Carpenter who also directed classics like Assault on Precinct 13, Halloween and The Thing.

I haven't seen anything of Dexter yet. It sounds like my kinda thing.

I bought the Prime Suspect boxset about a year ago and got watching that last night. God it's good.

Like most of these series you definitely want to start at the beginning. If you like the first series I am sure you will like them all.

Is that the one with Helen Mirren as DCI Tennyson? If so, it is very good. I have just finished watching Season 2 of Game of Thrones and I am hooked. I love the imp. He has a wonderful voice and tremendous presence.

Mind you, Breaking Bad takes some beating. Brian Cranston was fantastic as Walter White.

Breaking Bad beat Downton Abbey and Game of Thrones to win the Emmy award in America yesterday.

The first season of Dexter is by far the best IMO, in terms of the story line and the characters themselves.

Like many shows it gets steadily more over the top as it's dragged out, but I still enjoyed the other series. I'd definitely recommend it to anyone.

Breaking Bad and The Wire are the two best US Shows for me though!

That's the one RT. It's a lot like Cracker (Robbie Coltraine) which I also think takes some beating.

I love anything like that but those two are particularly brilliant because there's no bullshit. The storylines are easy to follow and are believable, compared to a lot of crime dramas.

Yes, love The Wire. Got the boxset for Christmas one year before ever even seeing it. It didn't take me long to get through it all. I need to start from the beginning some time.

It's a pity you don't know him. You could cheer him up no end with your pearls of wisdom.
