Electric Toothbrushes

I've always used a manual toothbrush but recently advised to change from my dentist. Do any of you guys use an electric toothbrush and if so, what would you recommend.

I've come across this one, COLGATE PROCLINICAL C600 which I couod get for £30.00 (special offer) but is this the best deal I'm going to get?

I don't understand what an electric toothbrush can achieve that a manual toothbrush can't.

The description on the one I mentioned states:

Its a good deal and they are much better than an ordinary brush but i seem to get thru them quick as the batteries in them dont keep their charge for much more than a year.

A good stiff one and rigorous hand movements is all you need.

I would wait till the Christmas sales soon, I have seen electric brushes as low as £15-£19.99 for Oral B ones.

My family have this brand and swear by them but I still use a manual toothbrush.

One thing to look out for when looking to buy one is the cost of replacement brushes (you can buy generic replacements from a few places!) so I would check the price of both the Colgate and Oral B brands before jumping.

I just can't get on with an electric tooth brush although my dentist keeps urging me to get one. My wife switched years ago and wouldn't switch back. 

Probably best to buy a cheaper one to see if you like it then upgrade later if you want.

I have an Oral B and it gives my teeth and gums a real going over. I wouldn't go back to the old way!!

You get what you pay for with this type of brush.If you get one go for the more expensive end of the market. I use the braun oral-b professional care 2000 two-mode rechargable toothbrush. Normally £80 but half price on amazon at the moment.

I've had one for about twelve months (again, at the behest of my dentist - have they got shares in them or something?) and to be honest, I can't be arsed using it.

I paid £45 in Boots for it, so it's not a cheap one.

As AD said, the battery runs down very quickly and I reckon it's all a big con.

Mine's got an in-built timer which makes it "buzz" after three minutes of brushing and tells you to stop.

Next time you clean your teeth time yourself and you will discover that three minutes is fucking shit load of brushing.

I reckon that explains the perceived "better cleaning effect" of these brushes - they're no more efficient, you just brush your teeth longer.

I got a £50 electric brush once. It was no better at cleaning my teeth than the £5 one I got from b and m bargains a few of weeks ago.

My dentist said I am cleaning my teeth very well after seeing her last week. I bought the cheapo brush after she told me I needed to use electric instead of manual maybe 8 weeks ago.

I am still on the original Duracell battery that came with it.

My thoughts. Get a cheap one. See if you like it before upgrading.

I bought a cheap one 3 mths ago, still cannot get the pubes out of the bristles.
I might go for a more expensive one next time.

That's good advice Biggie, I didn't even know you could get a dirt cheap unbranded electric one if you get what I mean.

I would definitely try a cheap one before jumping for a more superior one at a bigger cost and then if you like it, I would wait a few weeks as there are going to be sales galore for Christmas and you might just pick up a good bargain.
