He'll need to do a lot more than having a run out if he's going to prove to Dougie that he's "match fit". I'd imagine he'll be scheduling a return when the loanees go back.

I don't think he has offered enough over the years to justify the major interest in his fitness.

If history is anything to go by, he'll come back, and if it's not his form that lets him down, it'll be another injury.

That's not ruling out the possibility of him finally fulfilling his potential, it's just to balance things out.

Why rush Mavies when Moritz looks ready to take off? yes Mavies is a talent and agree he was at his best pre injury, but Nat's right he more often than not goes missing. He will come back but it's way to soon to carry a passenger. He used to drive me nuts in the prem when he was almost invisable.

Agree though that last year he was an handful, on the other pairing i still favour Medo he as a goal threat and holds the ball better.

It was an U21 game against Liverpool's 8th string, most of whom looked like they haven't started shaving yet.

Ie, precisely the kind of game I would have expected his supposed "Premier League" class to shine through in.

But he did hardly anything and made little or no impact against a bunch of kids.

He shouldn't be anywhere near our first team for a very long time.....

It's great to have Mavies back and he should blend in perfectly with Dougie's prefered formation. I can't see Mavies starting ahead of Moritz and Danns at the moment though, but at least it gives us another body in the squad.

If Mavies gets fully fit, stays fit and decides to pull his tripe out and make that central-midfield berth his own with some match-winning performances, then fair play.

I just can't see it and, based on what I saw yesterday, he's miles away from being match fit.

(And he didn't looked all that arsed to me, if I'm honest.)
