They didn't have light meters back then! Modern technology has taken some of the fun out of the game. Twenty Twenty cricket with floodlights at Old Trafford is a great spectacle but who would have imagined playing cricket in the dark forty years ago?

Seeing Clive Lloyd and Harry Pilling batting together always made me chuckle. Talk about chalk and cheese!

The company I used to work for always got complimentary tickets for Old Trafford ( Cricket ) and you had to put your name in a hat. The managers used to do the draw but there were only a few employees who were interested in cricket so me and a colleague who liked cricket used to get other staff to put their names in the hat on the proviso that if they won, we could go instead. It worked a treat!
We saw the likes of Clive Lloyd, Farokh Engineer, Michael Holding, Colin Croft, Paul Allott and Graeme Fowler. Happy days.

I'll tell you what used to make me chuckle, the residents on Keighley Rd Colne insuring their windows for cricket ball related breakages because of ex Nelson and Colne pro Collis King.
Like a bloody World War Two German bombing campaign when he was at the crease.
Clive Lloyd also played for Haslingden in the Lancs League.

Only ever been to two cricket matches in my life and that was one of them. Half a dozen of us wagged school that day as we were very close to year end, and for me school end. We got spotted on telly after the game had finished and a teacher passed comment the day after.
My other game was a Sunday League match against Essex early nineties, think that got abandoned, l was too tanked up to notice the game.
