The Brik is the weirdest thing ever. The fried egg is encased inside the deep fried pastry and although it looks like a pancake it is neither fluffy nor light. The texture is crispy and tastes just like a poppadom. When you bite into it the egg yolk oozes out and the combination is quite delicious.

I like fried eggs and I like a poppadom but I had never had the two together until I went to Tunisia. I used to have one every morning for breakfast.

They didn't have John Smiths bitter last time I was there but they had a decent selection of international brands including Guinness. They do a local alcohol drink made from figs. Give it the swerve. It takes like cough syrup and will give you the squitters.
