Lukas Jutkiewicz hopes Wanderers will find a way of keeping him beyond the end of this season.
While admitting there have been no talks with his parent club Middlesbrough so far, the in-form striker says he has felt at home since swapping the Riverside for the Reebok at the start of the year.
Jutkiewicz has just over a year left on his contract with Boro and has proved a hit with Wanderers fans, scoring four goals in his last six games and forging a productive partnership with fellow loanee Joe Mason.
The 24-year-old struck again in the 5-1 demolition of Leeds United on Saturday and believes he has found a good fit in Dougie Freedman’s management style as he prepares to spearhead the attack again at Derby tonight.
“I have not had any talks yet; I leave the talking to everyone else to be honest,” he said. “But I am enjoying it here and would love to stay here for longer than my loan period.
“Straight away I felt comfortable at Bolton and it feels like a good place for me. I would really like to organise something that will allow me to stay for longer.
“I am here until the end of the season so hopefully we can sort something out to make it go longer.”
Jutkiewicz – whose nickname “Juke” has been picked up by the Wanderers fans – hopes he has also made some connections on the terraces after a series of man-of-the-match performances.
“The Bolton fans have been supportive since day one and made me feel welcome,” he said.
“I have always been a team player to be honest. Adulation is not something I crave in the slightest but at the same time people have made me feel welcome and I appreciate that.”
Back at Boro, Jutkiewicz spent most of the season used as an impact player from the bench, which reflected in his goal tally, a meagre two in 24 appearances on Teesside.
His complete change in fortune in the North West has not just left Boro fans scratching their heads.
“It's a strange one and sometimes things don't work out for whatever reason at some places,” Jutkiewicz said. “It just seems to be a better fit here.
“But I have had numerous Middlesbrough fans writing on Twitter about it. They have been really supportive.”
Another factor that has helped Jutkiewicz settle has been the form of his attacking foil Mason since his return from Cardiff City.
The youngster’s first spell on loan from South Wales produced mixed results but with three goals in three starts, Mason has flourished since being paired with the former Everton star.
“Joe has been right on form since he came back,” Jutkiewicz said. “I knew from beforehand - we have mutual friends and we were at Plymouth together - what kind of player Joe is.
“I have also played against him before and he is really lively, works really hard and makes fantastic runs. It is enjoyable playing up front with him and it seems to be working well.”
