I regularly don't pay when I use the train, not because I'm a thief - but if the railway companies aren't going to bother having staff on duty then it's their own fault when people walk on/off without getting a ticket.
This guy just did what many people would have done - kept doing it until someone found out. At least he had the good grace to pay it back - I'd have told 'em to feck off.

Was a hedge fund manager really stupid enough to admit to years of fare dodging?
Surely he was caught once and could only be prosecuted for that one incident unless he was thick enough to say something like " I always do it".

He paid up because he would have lost his job if he had been charged. He originally only admitted dodging the fare on five short journeys but the rail company found that up until 2008 he had been buying an annual season ticket. So they had a pretty good case against him.
