If this is a reply to me then I'm sorry if I've misunderstood your reason for asking me your question.
Coyle never fucked me over - I've never spoke to the bloke.
I just have him down as the worst manager I've known in my 50+ years of following the club.
Yes I know many think Megson was but his problem was more to do with his total lack of rapport with the fans and the dire, deadly football he produced - but it was effective and it did work.
Coyle was a very popular choice and a seemingly charming and engaging character - but he simply was a bad manager. He had only one plan - 4-4-2 with two attacking wingers, that led to no defence for the full backs and statistics will show the vast bulk of goals we conceded were crosses from the wings where the full backs were being exploited.
This went on for game after game, season after season, without addressing the issue.
His eye for a player was also catastrophic - Sordell (who he clearly had not researched the bloke as a person - wouldn't you do your homework before you bought something for nearly £3 million?) was probably the case in point - but their are so many others to choose from also.
He underachieved with the team he had and that led to a needless relegation.
If anyone thought that was just bad luck, then he went on to do the same thing again at Wigan (Grant Holt anybody!).
Nice guy but completely useless as a manager since his one and only system was found out.
Again I'm sorry if I have upset you in anyway - it wasn't intended.

Palace survived by the skin of their teeth so it would be safe to assume they'd want to consolidate by bringing in a few players which in turn may mean there's no room for Murray at the club. He's 30 now and has been a journeyman striker most of his career so he'd need to go somewhere. Why here? He's from the north west (well Cumbria) and knows the area well from his playing days at Rochdale and Stockport and has worked for Dougie before so there is some logic in the move if it's true.Natasha Whittam wrote:I would consider Murray a very good signing at this level. Pulis gave him a few games towards the end of last season in the PL so I'd be amazed if he's ready to drop down to Bolton though.

I think "survived by the skin of their teeth" is stretching things a bit, editorially, there Lusty.
They finished comfortably in 11th place!
I agree with the rest of the things you said though.

The winger we're after is a prem player. Someone asked Nixon if it was Scott Sinclair and he didn't say no... Wishful thinking?

True even though it was only 4 (late) wins above the drop. Pulis performed a miracle.Breadman wrote:I think "survived by the skin of their teeth" is stretching things a bit, editorially, there Lusty.

Republic of Ireland midfielder Keith Andrews, 33, will hold talks with Watford on Wednesday regarding a season-long loan from fellow Championship club Bolton Wanderers.
Andrews impressed last season on loan with Brighton & Hove Albion,
However, the experienced midfielder is not part of manager Dougie Freedman’s plans at Bolton as he tries to build a younger team.
Ironically, Watford and Bolton meet on the opening weekend of the Championship season on August 9 but Andrews wouldn’t be allowed to play under the loan conditions.
Andrews has played for 11 clubs in his career and played 35 times for Ireland including games at Euro 2012

I don't know if I'm reading too much into this or not, but the report about us showing an interest in Hamill is a concern - specifically that Dougie has recently been told to make further cuts than previously anticipated.
Just a couple of days ago, Nixon was tweeting we were looking at a Premiership winger. Doubt we'd buy two having already acquired Feeney so presumably Dougie is lowering his sights.
If we are in the process of selling Mavies, Lee and Boggers as suggested (the cover story being that we're trying to keep them) you'd think that there would be quite a lot of money coming in - so why lower the sights if there's a prospect of income unless Dougie has been told to make further cuts?
Maybe I'm being paranoid, but it's not completely out of the question given the cuts he's already had to make.

I was being paranoid - at least to some extent inasmuch as DF now saying we aren't selling the 3 big earners. Not sure if this means nobody wants them or we can't get the players we want in for the money we'd get from those three.
Perhaps the no sale is why we're interested in Hamill and not a premiership winger, although a striker is still DFs priority.

Wanderlust - ever considered the possibility that Freedman is fucking clueless?

Of course. I've also considered that he could be doing a superb job.
Both scenarios are complete speculation.
Similarly I've considered the possibility that he is being financially hamstrung by the Board and the converse that he actually has some money but doesn't know how to trade.
We'll never know for sure.
Managers are judged by results and nothing else in most cases so we'll see how he does when the season gets underway.
I'm worried but hopeful.
