I had mashed potatoes, carrots, green beans and Iceland sausages. The sausages were crap. 29% pork and 4% beef. God knows what the other 67% was made up of but they tasted crap. Never again.

The other 67% was lips, tits, and arse holes, I would never shop in that place.

I have to agree here, I usually look for sausages that have a minimum of 75% meat and are fresh.Mr Magoo wrote:The other 67% was lips, tits, and arse holes, I would never shop in that place.

I presume the iceland sausages were frozen RT?
Other items people need to watch out for are burgers and chicken fillets as well, these usually have crap in them as well.
I suppose it all comes down to what you are willing to pay.

I normally get Asda or Sainsbury's special range sausages. The beef or pork content is around 90%. I think the Iceland sausages were in the freezer and I'd probably got them for a BBQ.

I am not a food snob by any means but I know my friends family buy the £1 pizza's from iceland and they say they love them, surely there is hardly any toppings on them?
Do you buy anything else from iceland RT?
I know that the ice cream/lollies are generally of good value in there?

I do get some items from Iceland. I can honestly say that the pizzas are fine. They are good value for a quid. I also buy their frozen Tuna steaks which are great on a BBQ. They also do a Yellowfin Sole which I had never heard of before. I do my main shop in Asda but there is an Aldi and an Iceland next door to one another and I often go in Aldi to be honest. Tinned chopped tomatoes from Aldi are as good as anywhere else and I bought a shoulder of lamb in there for £11 and it was as good as anything from the butchers. the only problem with Aldi is that you can't get everything for a family shop whereas you can at Asda.

A Waitrose opened up near us about 12 months ago and I have to say it's a bloody rip-off. Folk must be made of money if they shop in there. It's the same as Marks and Spencers. Good quality but bloody dear. I only ever go into Marks and spencer at Christmas.

I go to the local farm shop for 70% of the meats I buy, I can see the animals they came from.karlypants wrote:Don't tell me, you get the extra special Waitrose ones Magoo?Mr Magoo wrote:Tight getReebok Trotter wrote:I normally get Asda or Sainsbury's special range sausages. My local butcher get's most of his meat from an abattoir in Preston. The sirloin and fillet steaks are always the dogs bollocks.

Our butcher is a scotch beef specialist bust does fantastic tasting fresh pork sausages, shame though as he isn't cheap so we have his meat every blue moon (there is no pun there!).Reebok Trotter wrote:My local butcher get's most of his meat from an abattoir in Preston. I bought 3 Sea Bass for a fiver on Bolton fish market yesterday. Did them in tin foil with lemon and had them with mashed potatoes and garden peas. Delicious.

I bought a bloody big hunk of Sirloin steak for £18 quid as well. The meat was proper purple so you could tell it had been well hung. I managed to cut 14 full steaks out of it all as thick as my thumb.
