DOUGIE Freedman wants Norway international Jonathan Parr to solve his left-back crisis.

The ex-Crystal Palace defender is a free agent and has been on Wanderers’ radar all summer.

But after it emerged this week that Marc Tierney will be unavailable for up to three months following surgery, the Whites boss now finds himself in a difficult situation with less than a fortnight to go before the opening pre-season friendly against Brondby.

Parr was signed for £300,000 at Selhurst Park by Freedman and won the Eagles’ player-of-the-season award in his first campaign in English football.

He was a major part of the Palace team that gained promotion to the Premier League the following season and also played 15 times in the top flight but fell out of favour with Tony Puils after picking up an injury in January and left the club in May.

“I would be very interested if we can get it done on a free transfer,” Freedman told The Bolton News. “I have worked with Jonathan before at Crystal Palace, he’s a good age, he has experience of the Championship and the Premier League and most of all, he’s a talented player.

“We don’t have many options at left-back at the moment so if we can get something done on a free, then of course, I’d like it to happen.”

Freedman does have the option on playing Tim Ream on the left but stated on several occasions last season that his side suffered for playing the American away from his favoured central role.

Ream’s distribution skills are considered key to the way the Whites boss wants to play next term, although new signing Dorian Dervite is cut from the same cloth and comfortable on the ball.

Parr started his career alongside former Wanderers keeper Ali Al-Habsi at Norwegian club Lyn Oslo but moved on to Aalesund in 2007, making more than 100 appearances in the Nowegian top division and twice lifting the Norwegian Cup.

He made his international debut in May 2010 and now has 10 caps to his name.

Sounds promising if it does happen. Never really been impressed by Tierney anyway.

Yet another ex Palace player. Is DF living in the past? At this rate we'll have a team for the Northern Senior league!!

You've realised it's nonsense, so you're claiming you do that intentionally.
