Wanderers are poised to sign former Crystal Palace left-back Dean Moxey on a free transfer.

Dougie Freedman has been on the lookout for defensive cover since learning his only specialist, Marc Tierney, would definitely miss the start of the season as he recovers from a minor operation on his leg.

Moxey is believed to have had a medical with the club last night and is expected to sign terms with the Whites this morning to become Freedman’s seventh signing of the summer.

The 28-year-old was released by Palace last month despite playing 20 times for them in the Premier League.

He had been a regular starter under Ian Holloway but fell out of favour under his successor Tony Pulis.

Moxey boasts a wealth of experience in the Championship, having also played for Derby County and working with Freedman in his days in charge at Selhurst Park.

Wanderers had investigated the option of bringing in Norway international Jonathan Parr on a free but could not agree personal terms.

Meanwhile, the club announced that the contracts of Andre Moritz and Arran Lee-Barrett have expired – with Moritz seeming to sever ties with a tweet from his official account.

The Brazilian wrote: “I want to thank all the people who always supported me at #bwfc had a great time over there. Wish you all the best for this season!

“Hope to see you all soon, I’ll be cheering for Bolton to come back to the Prem. Thank you very much! All the best.”

Moritz has turned down the chance of Champions League football with Cypriot title winners APOEL Nicosia and is speaking with clubs in England and abroad.

Wanderers have also confirmed Stuart Holden remains with the club on “non-contract terms” as he completes his rehabilitation from a knee injury in the States.

Reports from the US have been encouraging as the midfielder battles to get his career back on track and he is on schedule to link up with the squad again in the new season.

"He had been a regular starter under Ian Holloway but fell out of favour under his successor Tony Pulis."

ie, He was part of a leaky defence which shipped goals for fun, Palace looked doomed, Holloway gets sacked for being shit, Pulis comes in and drops him, Palace stay up comfortably.

Great - Cant wait to see him in a white shirt........

He was also a regular in a Crystal Palace promotion winning team that kept clean sheets regularly.
