I missed it all today (no radio, no chatbox, no telly), so I've genuinely no idea how it all panned out.
I know we lost 0-1, but beyond that I haven't a clue.
Did we look any better or was it the same old same old?
Cheers.
their goal was a complete pub standard fuck up by loneghan, poxy had a better game Mason was shite, Freedman's substitutions, incomprehensible, oh and we are back to, cant hit a barn door from 2ft, Ream playing at RB??????, apparently Garvan isn't match fit, but played, and missed a pen!!!!

Same old, don't have enough quality. Can't really fault DF today, selection was right but when Lonergan decides to throw the ball into the net and Garvan misses a penalty, what can you really do? Had chances to equalise and didn't take them.

Report: Wolves 1-0 Bolton
IN BRIEF
Wolves shaded the battle of the league’s two Wanderers, with Nouha Dicko’s header in first-half stoppage time edging out Bolton at Molineux.
Despite much endeavour and pressure in the second period, which included a missed Owen Garvan penalty, Bolton were unable to find a way through a stubborn Wolves rearguard.
TEAM NEWS
Dougie Freedman made three changes to the side that beat Rotherham United in midweek, with Lee Chung-Yong, Liam Feeney and Garvan all coming into the starting line-up.
Elsewhere, there was a place on the substitutes’ bench for Kevin McNaughton who returned to the first team squad after missing the previous five games through a combination of injury and illness.
Meanwhile, new recruit Paddy Kenny was also named on the bench.
FIRST HALF
The Trotters flew out of the traps.
A quick throw from Craig Davies found Lee, who in turn crossed with a loose ball eventually being smacked goalwards by Jay Spearing. His shot deflected marginally wide of Carl Ikeme’s goal.
Bolton saw more of the ball inside the opening 20 or so minutes, though the hosts’ backline limited any real attempts on goal.
The main threat for the men in black and gold came down the flanks, with both full-backs pressing forward to combine with their respective, interchanging wingers.
A flurry of Scott Golbourne crosses were well dealt with by Matt Mills and co whilst Spearing had to be alert to clear Bakary Sako’s pull-back from the right byline.
From the resulting corner Andrew Lonergan flung himself right to palm away Danny Batth’s towering header.
On 22 minutes Bolton carved out their first attempt on target of note.
Owen Garvan and Joe Mason combined to tee up Craig Davies, though his first-time shot from the edge of the area was somewhat tame and easily gathered by Ikeme.
Wolves responded, with midfielder Lee Evans crashing a half volley within a whisker of Lonergan’s left post.
The hosts ended the half the better of the two sides and took the lead on 44 minutes.
Dicko crept between two defenders as a ball looped into the area before nodding home at the near post.
SECOND HALF
Wolves started the second period in the ascendancy.
Golbourne arrived at the back post to head down James Henry’s cross only to see Lonergan smuggle the ball behind for a corner.
Jermaine Beckford replaced Craig Davies just before the hour mark and his introduction had an immediate impact.
Beckford found a pocket of space on the left side before making a beeline for the goal. Dancing his way into the area, he was then felled by Wolves defender Richard Stearman’s outstretched leg – penalty kick.
Garvan grabbed the ball, but saw his kick from 12 yards beaten away by Ikeme with his follow up then scrambled clear.
Mark Davies was then introduced to a chorus of jeers from the home fans.
Bolton continued to endeavour to find a route back into the contest.
Mason saw a swirling cross from the right clip the crossbar before Dorian Dervite met Mark Davies’ cross but could only head wide.
In a rare foray into Bolton territory Henry did cross for sub Leon Clarke at the near post, with Mills throwing himself in front of a goalbound effort, sustaining a hefty blow which required treatment in the process.
That stoppage in play seemingly allowed the home side to regroup.
But Bolton continued to press forward.
Beckford threaded a clever ball in behind the Wolves full-back with Liam Feeney’s shot blocked by Ikeme.
Beckford then fired a snap shot from the penalty spot straight at Ikeme, with the hosts eventually hanging in there to claim all three point.

Clayton is fit, had a full preseason (his words) including a stint with us so has a clue of how we operate but couldn't make the bench of a team shy on goalscorers. Dougie may have to suit up for the next game to have a striker he really likes.

He's turned us into underdogs against just about everybody we play.
He's one of those managers who bangs on at length about the opposition's strengths before the game every time and never says we have the tools / plan to hurt them.
It says a lot about his mindset. (Bollocks to Lusty's idea that he's reading from a script prepared by somebody else, that's horse shit.)
And if he's saying this to the players, what sort of spirit is that going to create?
The man's a fucking joke.

Why are people blaming Lonergan for the goal? It was a deflected cross that looped up nicely for the striker, how anyone can blame the keeper is harsh.bwfc1874 wrote:Same old, don't have enough quality. the truth is we are underdogs against everyone in the League even the bottom 3 if we play them at their ground. Dougie can spout all the usual crap but no one is listening now. All we want to hear is that he's cleared his desk and done one.

Cos he's got hands! A ball dropping in his six yard box should be his and caught or a least punched!OneFinFreedman wrote:Why are people blaming Lonergan for the goal? I'd lay more blame with the defender who let Dicko have a run at it and out jumped him.

I don't like them but you can't seriously suggest they are inferior given their history, record and current squad/position?
They're 3rd in the League now.

We can't blame Dougie for yesterdays result. He played an attacking 4-4-2 formation from the start with Lee and Feeney out wide and C. Davies and Mason up front. We were the much better team in the second half tbh. I'm not sure why Garvan took the penalty when there were other more experienced players on the pitch? A fine save from their keeper put the mockers on the afternoon. Decent turnout from the Wanderers faithful though..nearly nine hundred and no pay on the day either.
All in all very disappointing because we deserved at least a draw but that's football..

what about taking Mason off and not having another striker on the bench? Mason may not have had a good game but if you don't have strikers on the pitch you aren't going to score many.

RT's right, Dougie got it correct yesterday and we should have got at least a point. Trying to find fault in his performance yesterday is clutching at straws. The damage has been done over the past 12/13 months results overall and that's why he's lucky to still be in the job not because of yesterday.

Spearing should have taken the penalty, he's the captain and should lead by example.

..with their quality players out on loan until they got back to the championship - without having to pay their wages or lose them in the interim. The L1 promotion experience strengthened their development squad no end and now they're in an enviable position.Boggersbelief wrote:They were in league one last year...wanderlust wrote:"Teams like Wolves"?Boggersbelief wrote:Dougie freedman wrote:We've come away here to a team who were lying fourth in the league table before the game

Sp what you're really saying is we shouldn't be underdogs against teams that have just been promoted regardless of who they are and who they have on their books?

It must take something to get to be the penalty taker if you've just joined a team so presumably Garvan is a penalty specialist - despite what we saw on Saturday.Natasha Whittam wrote:Spearing should have taken the penalty, he's the captain and should lead by example.
