Nothing to do with him playing RB, but his touch and passing is top class. Not enough pace but he's class.

I've always liked Vela.
Thought he had a harder game last night than against Cardiff.
Did OK in my opinion though.

He's certainly not the answer at right back, where's Joe Riley?

Give the lad a chance.
Two games at rb.
One very good the other OK.

Plus he was up against a premiership quality player most of the night in that mcmanaman. He won't be starting at Wigan if they don't go up.

I have no idea why Wigan switched Mcmannaman to the other wing after 10 minutes. He went past Vela twice, once to set up a chance for the guy at the back post and the time he hit the bar. It's not about giving him a chance, he just isn't a right back, people run at him they go past him. Happened yesterday and a couple of times v Cardiff.

You're right.
We need a full back nobody can get past

We need a right back that people can't get past 100% of the time.

So Vela has been beat every single time in the last two games?
Don't think so.

I'm trying to think of an instance when he has tackled a winger that's been running at him. Certainly wasn't one yesterday, and can't think of one from Tuesday. He is good when we have the ball but he just isn't a right back.

Vela will play for England, they were a few Managers in the crowd watching him last night.

he does lack a bit of pace that would make him a top class RB, i thought he had a tough first half but got better in the 2nd for me. Wigan do have quality out wide (even that prick McLean) but overall all he did well.

He's great on the ball and it was refreshing to see us keep possession so often when normally the slightest pressure would result in us losing it. Vela was one of the best for that yesterday.
He was never right enough to Mcmanaman or McLean though unfortunately. 2 good wingers and they got the better of him pretty easily, good goog forward and has a future at the club IMO.

Only applies to playing for England at right back, don't think he will be our right back for very long. He will move to central midfield when Mark Davies inevitably gets injured.
