I would - but they change every few days. We've had  a dozen different postmen this year, the binmen just dump the empty bins across driveways, the free paper is just an annoying rag and taxi drivers get it rounded up to the nearest pound as they're all tax dodgers.
The only guy I've tipped this year was the AA man who came to our house to change a flat tyre. He was worth it.
I'm beginning to sound like Nat!!

Restaurants are about the only place I think tipping should be expected.

No I don't agree. Tipping is annoying and ridiculous. We should do what they do in many other countries and not tip. Leaving a few coins is normal in countries where staff receive decent wages and service is included in the bill. In other words the complete opposite of what happens in the USA.

I don't tip if service is included, I take issue with service being included to be honest tipping should be a choice. If I've had a decent waiter I'll give around 10% if not they get nothing.

I tip if the service is good.
At Christmas I tip the bin men (usually a dozen cans) so that they don't kick up shit whenever I dump nuclear waste or any of the other thousand or so materials I'm not supposed to put in my bin.

Have any of the "I don't tip - they're getting paid to do their job already" brigade actually ever done a minimum wage job?

Tips can make all the difference and in this soulless age we live in, if the person delivering my food does it with a smile on their face, I'm happy to slip 'em a couple of quid.

Damn right, when I started off modelling I was only getting about £500 a day.

i don't mind tipping if service has been good in a restaurant but one thing that does annoy me is the added on service charge. It used to be just for big parties but now some places do it even if its a couple out for meal.

So, if I read the posts correctly, the answer to my original question appears to be: use your discretion and tip as and when appropriate. It's a matter of choice, but service with a smile "tips" the balance......(sorry!)

Mock all you like, but while you were baking bread I was walking down the catwalks of Milan, New York, Dudley and London.
