Make of that what you will.

Think a trim may be in order

Mrs B loves it.

She says you really get to "feel the experience" and it's uncanny.

In all serious, the first telly I bought was a Bush from Argos. It was 20" and cost about £130 (I remember it had that fast text on it which was all the rage for Bamboozle!) and a month after the guarantee was up, the bloody screen went purple.

Was well gutted!

We bought a Sharp from Argos and when we got it home the screen was covered in coloured dots where the pixellation thingy had failed.

I took it back and the lad behind the counter said "If it were me, I'd swap it for one of these. Seventy quid cheaper and an all round better telly."

So I did.

And it's been great.

I'm not a telly snob.

Do they have Richer Sounds oop north? I used to buy all my electronics from there when I was in London - cheap, quality stuff.

Yeah they have one in Preston and Manchester.

They are not as cheap as they used to be but I'm pretty sure all the TV's they sell come with a 5 year warranty.

I sometimes used to just go there in my lunch hour and drool over the Dennon and Nad (yes, I said I drooled over Nad) amplifiers and CD players...

There's still the original one in Stockport, isn't there?

I bought an amp from there when I was about 20 and blew my stereo up.

Yeah your right, just had a look now and there are quite a few up north.

More than I thought. Smile

They used to advertise in the back of Viz.

I plugged that amp in, shoved a Smiths CD in (in the early days of CD's remember), cranked it up and  blew the bloody speakers up.

Not the last time I had a "woofer" let me down - I used to try and pick up women in the Crown & Cushion......

I still buy a copy of Viz at Manchester airport whenever we're going on holiday - it's a tradition now and I see it as keeping my heritage alive.

And I ration it out as toilet reading for the whole two weeks.

Mrs B doesn't get it.

She thinks that a 45 year old man shouldn't be taking a comic into the toilet and then be laughing hysterically for ten minutes before re-emerging and saying "Show uz ya teds, pet!"

Viz is brilliant - still. I used to work Dennis Publishing who publish it. Have you seen the Roger Mellie books… Roger's Profanisaurus…. The Magna-Farta….

Richer Sounds. That's going on my list for the Summer trip home. Its weird little things like that I crave and miss most about home. That and a Four Seasons (Astley Bridge opposite Asda Basda) dirty breakfast.

Lol haven't been in there since I was a kid!

I almost forget it's still next to RBS. Smile

Still there Karly. Better than ever… a solid breakfast and top milkshakes (which my lads love) too.
