why have I not been noted about my name change, I didn't give anyone my permission to change it.

If the staff do what they want willy nilly then what kind of environment is that

When someone types my username it changes to Boggers

For future reference: Can the record now please show that Boggers has officially "gone running to the mods, crying".

It's a stick he regularly uses to beat other contributors with and I think it's only fair that the records are now updated to reflect the fact that he has officially done it himself.

I typed in Boggers and it came out as Boggers.

If I'd have typed in Boggers instead, surely it would have said Boggers and not Boggers?

Seems that one of my backroom colleagues has thought it would be helpful to assign your 'full' user name to the member who original posted from the ip address that you are currently using.

Anybody can refer to you as 'Killer' or 'Gorilla' easily enough though.

A rose by any other name and all that.

That's not how I'd react.

I'd be saying "But I'm not this Boggers person, so please change it back."

I wouldn't just acquiesce and then say "Fair enough, but a bit of communication would be nice."

Bread the facts are these -

Our sites system tells us what a users ip address is.

However that doesn't mean the ip is genuine - people use proxy sites for instance to mask their original ip address.

Our system tells us Boggars as posted from the same ip address that Killer is now using.

The obvious thought is that these two accounts are from the same person - and that is why the mods flagged it up early on the public forum - but we do not know that for certain.

We aren't the internet police and posting as an alto ego to your normal self is not yet a crime - but to be as fair and as transparent as we can to everybody using the site we have made it public very early on what we knew about the background to this specific ip address and the two members who have posted from it.

Individuals could from then on make their own minds up about the situation.

I think that was fair and open to everyone.

I think Milkman got banned for this, mods not knowing for sure but pressing the big red panic button.

I just wanted to test it sorry.

The two accounts are from the same ip and are from the same persons internet connection.  This is a fact.  The police use this method to trace people and I am 100% confident they are the same person.  No ifs and buts about it.

So when's this take-over thingy happening then....?
