Signings That Did Work Out Better Than Expected

Heading my list is Florent Laville but I would also add Kevin Davies and Gudni Berggson.

I have deliberately avoided the big name stars but Youri Djorkaeff would be my pick of these.

Other contenders are John McGinlay and Gary Speed.

Tal Ben Haim, he was class for us and should never have left.

Michael Ricketts

John Byrom. You could love or hate him in turn but he was a good lad,considering he came to us from Deadwood park.

Jussi by a mile.

Eidur. Bought for next to nothing and was supposedly injury prone.

But Jussi was bought for £100k and played for us for donkey's years - and was brilliant for most of that time. Eidur was great until we cashed in and if we'd kept him for longer I'd agree he was the better signing - but we didn't.

Jussis undeniably the best in terms of the return we got for such little investment.

Jussi by a mile but you could say Anelka worked out better than some thought it would, he came with a reputation of being a sulker so I think some thought he would just come and collect a wage.

Gudders wasn't half bad either. We gave him away to Chelski.
Peter Thompson was awesome, they said he was bolloxed when he came to us.Ole!

Tony Dunne who came to us from Manure did okay as well.
