Thats all very interesting, genuinely, but It still doesn't spell out what interest any country would have in Nuking another.

being a "proud nation" isn't enough I'm afraid thats a given for every country.

and i fail to see anywhere in this thread where I've used an "ambiguous one line statement" I've been pretty clear how I feel frankly with fairly lengthy posts.

Because they feel the have too.

Nobody builds weapons unless they plan to use them should they have too.

Heads-in-sand and a 'don't panic' approach is still not going to stop the powers that be from using them should they have too.

Sorry Rebel but you can't say because they feel they have to as a valid reason for Nuking another country, they'll actually need a genuine reason. It's not as if previous conflicts have been settled by nukes (barring Hiroshima of course but that's a different situation really).

If Milliband was in charge there wouldn't be any war because the country would be bankrupt.

Cameron is posturing as usual. He has no intention of doing jack shit about the Ukraine situation but will use the opportunity to try to court the "public outrage" he has fostered with no other intention other than winning votes from the dumbasses who believe the tripe he spouts.

And here's the proof:

I see Billy Boy is still ballooning on about Russia's miscalculated move into Crimea. Putin is the schoolyard bully and knows full well fuck hall is the only likely outcome from the West as he knows Obama is a shivering dog and Billy Hague is as much use as a dead sheep!!

Looks pretty much like we have allowed that dangerous prick Putin to bully Ukraine.

Anyone else pissed off with the west's reaction to this?

Way I see it is, we have allowed Putin's troops to march in to another country, steal part of it, declare it theirs... and nobody goes "OI Putin... NO" Instead, we ask him polity to withdraw, threaten 'serious consequences' then, when that failed, we froze the assets of several Russians that have property in the west... wow, bet Putin's REALLY scared!

They are even taking the piss out of us on twitter. Putin's Lap dog Rogozin (defense minister)  tweeted once we had done this addressing Obama as 'comrade' and asking him about all the people who don't have overseas property - what are you going to do about them.

The line from Russia now is "fuck you lot, we do what we want, we are Russia"

I fear Putin wont rest now until his beloved USSR is reunited. Lets face it, NATO will allow him to march in to any country he wants and take it over.

Now he has more or less got away with this, were does it stop? The rest of Ukraine? then the rest of the former USSR?

Then Germany?
France?
Do we let them get to the M25 before we try and stop them...?

Putin is a dangerous cunt that need's to be stopped, Cameron, Obama and Hague are soft arses who allow themselves to be bullied.

I hate saying this, but Thatcher wouldn't have stood for this shit!

The majority of people in Ukraine clearly want to be part of Russia so let them get on with it.

This is absolutely nothing to do with us and we should stay well out of it. This is nothing like Russia invading Germany or France as you well know.

I don't understand why Hague, Cameron and every major politician before them feel the need to stick their nose into other peoples problems. They should be concentrating on the problems at home.

Ye let's go and attack Russia that will only end well.

He's taken Crimea, which let's face it is of very little significance to the EU, if he was to carry on into Eastern Ukraine we'd have a real crisis. But at this point there's nothing we can do to stop him, we're not a world player anymore. The best thing to do is diplomacy and try and solve this crisis by negotiations. Crimea's gone though - which we've known for weeks.

Interesting you should mention Thatcher, she understood the importance of keeping Russia on side, Lord Heseltine was on Question Time a couple of weeks ago and said we needed to call the situation, not to escalate it and goad the Russians - I agree.

the issue is Nat - that we made a pact with Ukraine that we would protect them (NATO) should their borders ever be threatened. In return they surrendered their nuclear arsenal.

They are now a sitting duck. When they ask for the help that was promised, they get fuck all.

Bet they feel like WE (west) fucked them over now...

Shut-up you fanny.
where have I said lets go and invade them or send Trident Missiles in? This would be suicide, I understand that. I just feel like we have been made to look like right soft twats that will allow 'bigger boys' to bully us now. Putin will think this too - and he's right.

Erm... how much of our Oil supply goes through there? He will switch this off next.

NATO will have a meeting about this and conclude the best course of action will be to ask them nicely to put it back on.

If that fails, they will write a strongly worded letter warning them that we will place a transfer embargo on Chelsea and they might struggle a bit.

... While Putin rolls on the floor laughing!

This could all be settled by Ukraine sanctioning a proper referendum for the people of Crimea, who clearly want to be part of Russia.

So what do you want to happen? You don't want to piss off Putin but you seem annoyed that we're not doing anything? Work out what it is you want you tit.

We are 'soft twats' when it comes to military power, you pretty much say that yourself, so what do you want to happen.

I agree with Hipster, give the Crimea (which wants to be Russian) a legal referendum in return for assurances from Russia it won't be going into more of Ukraine. I see little choice.

Wrong -

Most Crimean's want to be Russian, however most of Ukraine wants to be in the EU/NATO.

I'm not saying lets go to war - but be more forceful with them.

We 'won' the cold war by being good diplomats but also not allowing anyone to take liberties. The USSR knew this, this is why we never had a full blown military confrontation. The Russian people themselves helped us by us making them realise our way was better - the same people now who have been brainwashed by Putin's Socialist rhetoric now. He is like a modern day Hitler - get everyone on-side by brainwashing them with shit, them make your move. remember how WWII started?

We also had the MAD doctrine as a deterrent and I suppose we still have.

We should be taking a more hard-line approach with Putin - lets face it, the guy is a cunt anyway, he's old school Russian who wants his beloved USSR back and we should have seen something like this coming.

Instead we would rather just convince ourselves a threat is no longer there when it clearly is - deplete our armed forces to the lowest levels ever since last century, scrap our aircraft carriers because we are due some new ones to be delivered sometime in the next 4 decades, scrap all our tactical nuclear weapons (bar for about 20 or so variable yield nuclear warheads for trident missiles) scrapped half our air force before that can be replenished as well - Harriers, Jaguars and half our Tornado fleet is gone - but don't worry, the MD Lightning II will be ready in 24 months or so...

Our government has Made us soft trying to save money, we are a sitting duck now.

I hate the yanks but thank fuck for them as we would have been invaded by now if we didnt have them on side.
