Well until someone opens a Vimto Bar it's the only place to meet like-minded posh people.

There were around 10 temperance bars in Bolton until the war apparently. My gran reckoned they closed down because of the religious fanaticism that tended to mar what was otherwise a very nice experience.

Quite partial to a glass of D & B or Sarsaparilla out of a stone jar - especially with a scoop of ice cream floating in it.

When I was a kid there were just Italian places like Tognorelli's and Sabini's and they closed when the shops closed.

We used to go to Ferretti's in Horwich when I was a kid but that's long gone now, too....

If I remember correctly there used to be a Temperence bar on Halliwell Rd near Moss Street Baths in the 60's. Sarsparilla and Dandy was the order of the day.
