This is a football forum where people come for light-hearted bullshit, not to read about your obvious issues with religion. We get it, you hate it. Point made.

Not everyone feels the same, and you highlighting a few religious dickheads every day won't change how people feel.

I despise IS and all the other religious nutters, I'd happily drop a bomb on them all, but I happen to know several people who converted to Islam and they have nothing but hatred for the people using their religion in the name of terrorism.

I'm guessing Aberdeen is a very white Christian city, perhaps if you got out a bit more you'd realise not every non-Christian person is out to cut your head off.

Would that be done with it? You can't blow up an ideology, you could carpet bomb the 'Islamic state' sure but then what?

The next wave of radicals would declare jihad and point to the thousands of innocent women and children we've already killed and your solution would incur and we're back to the same thing.

So basically, we really are fucked!

I'm sorry I didn't realise there was a remit on here that had to be abided too.

the amount of genuine racist and homophobic and abusive crap that gets posted on here and laughed at is fine, but someone making cogent and thoughtful arguments about a very serious topic in the world today is told to shut up and accused of being hateful.

laughable really.

That's stretching it, but even if it was true, I come on here to read about arguments between members, what they had for dinner, and who the most annoying poster is.

Don't spoil it for me.

It's not actually, there's nothing hateful about what I say, they're arguments made daily by people like Peter Hitchens, Douglas Murray, Hitch when he was alive, Sam Harris, Richard Dawkins, Majiid Nawaz, Ayaan Hirsi Ali.

I'd encourage you to explore the arguments so you actually understand them.

I don't want to understand them, it's depressing.

They can't be true Muslims if they have hate in their hearts. So much for converting to Islam, the religion of peace! scratch

Don't try and be cleaver, it doesn't suit you.

Just because people are religious it doesn't mean they believe everything their bible says. I don't think I can feed 5000 people with one Warburtons Super Toastie and a box of fish fingers.

That's right. Much better to be selective and ignore the rubbish and just choose the best parts that suit your own agenda like stoning people and chopping their hands off.

I was listening to an interview with an ex CIA guy about IS and it was interesting to hear that 99% of their victims are other Muslims (mainly Syrians) who oppose them - with the occasional foreigner thrown in to raise awareness in the West.
He made the point that they are sending a message to the West that they can do what they like to people without any form of retribution.
Surely it's only a matter of time before the latent Islamaphobia in the West leads to racists or the families of victims tracking down the families of IS volunteers and killing their sisters, brothers and parents in the Judeo-Christian eye for an eye tradition?

That would send a message that if you bugger off to be a terrorist your family in the US or Europe will die. I would never advocate such action but considering the racist mentality that pervades our culture it doesn't seem to be a particularly far-fetched possibility.

It makes sense to me.

It could happen in America but interestingly they don't tend to go from America even though hundreds of them go from European countries like the UK, France and Germany. I wonder why.

It's 3 dead Muslims - would you expect it to trend in the US/UK like Charlie Hesbo? I don't think so. I mean IS kill loads of Muslims every day but you don't hear about it. Only time you hear about IS on the news is when a westerner is topped.

And in this case, the motive is unclear at present.

From what I've read they were killed for their religion, but we'll find out in the next few days I'd expect. Just think it's interesting there's next to no coverage of it, had this been reversed and a muslim killer killing 3 non believers we'd have seen 'terrorism' related news stories everywhere we turn.

It has been reported today that the Hacking group Anonymous have closed down over 1,000 Islamic State websites in 3 days. If they can do it why can't the authorities do the same?
