Awful. This is another thing that lack of debate leads too... hate fosters on both sides without dialogue.

They probably can but won't if you go with Scott's conspiracy theories.
I suppose generating fear in the West keeps a lot of corporations and government departments and agencies in business.

This.

Read "Stupid White Men" by Michael Moore for an insight into how much money corporate America made out of invading then "securing" and "rebuilding" Iraq.

Fucking criminal.

I quite like Michael Moore. He doesn't pull any punches. Bowling for Columbine was brilliant.

If you liked Moore then I strongly recommend you watch 'Bitter Lake' by Adam Curtis.

Required viewing imo.

I watched it on your recommendation Sluffy. Pretty much summed up the entire crock of shit that passes for the middle east. It's hard to change viewpoints that have been entrenched over hundreds of years.

Watched it last night, thought it was excellent - great soundtrack too. Goes to show how much of the problem we're responsible for and how ridiculous this 'good vs evil', saving innocents, take out Saddam bullshit really is and not to mention our continued relationship with Saudi Arabia.

I guess it depends where your interests lay as to what you get out of it.

Yes the west is dependant on oil but whether that is for profit or for necessity is up to your own view of things. The fact is from there on it flows that we have gotten into bed with the Saudis.

Saudi Arabai is the home of the specific branch of the islamic religion that is causing all the problems in the world. The Saudi royal family know the religious leaders can unseat them, so they play along with them - hence why this extremeist form of islam not only survives but is now growing world wide.

This is as led directly to things such as the twin towers air attack, the tube bombs in London, the shootings in Paris recently, ISis and Syria and Iraq, etc, etc.

As of now there doesn't seem anyway the west can stop what is going on.

Perhaps once the west can finally move away from oil dependancy then things will get better.

But that isn't going to happen anytime soon.

There are many other levels to the film too such as how the vast amount of money spent on oil and recycled back into the western economy led to the way the banking system is run - see HSBC in todays news for an example - or how the west have dumbed down politics to the masses to a 'good guy, bad guy' way, in order to manipulate the people more easily into controling them in respect of policy and action - weapons of mass distruction for example.

Theres far, far more in the film - but I guess you do need an interest in the subjects involved to get the most out of it.

Sorry you didn't like it - maybe it might help Keegan with his insomnia though!

"It is the result of the radical Islamic atmosphere created by the government. The men say that women should be conservative. They think if they are not conservative, they deserve this kind of violence," she said.

If you're feeling pain in the gym you're doing it wrong.

I'm beginning to think you're an amateur.

Well said Scott.

There are two sides to religion.

The good side is the teaching, the attempt to show people how to live a better life together.

The bad side is that of power. Whoever controls how people should think can rule the world.

In the west we broke the power of the church (to some extent) but are now ruled by those who seek wealth.

Again that is not bad in itself if wealth is shared to the benefit of all.

The aim of the muslim (eastern) world seems to conform to an idealistic world (that never existed) of a thousand years ago, where for example women are thought of as a mans property and anything non conforming such as homosexuality is more or less killed!

The aim of the western world is self greed. And considering we are on a football forum, can anybody think of a better example of this than football, where paying obscene amounts of money to obnoxious and extremely spoilt twenty/thirtysomethings and their odious agents whilst those who are stupid enough to idolise them are/have failed at school, scive off the state and blag knock off sky boxes to watch them on!

I don't know what the right answer is to make a better world but I do know we do get what we rightly deserve

Allahu akbar / on my head son.
