Don't think I can take another winter here it might be my last one if I can persuade the wife to leave the kids here while we live over there, been offered a partnership in a classic car bussiness in Clearwater but it's a big risk.

Do it.

You get one crack at this life, so seize any opportunity that presents itself with both hands.

I keep saying it's only 8 hours away and we don't have any grand children in sight yet but she say's what's wrong with just having holidays, well what's fucking wrong is these winters and the shitty summers.

I take your point, Breadders. It rained yesterday and my neighbour made sure to water the plants before it started.

True story.

I remember being sat on a sun lounger by the pool one day in the Caribbean and hearing a bloke behind me say "Shit! look at that!"

I turned round and saw a black wall moving in from the sea with enormous lightening flashes in it.

Everybody legged it back to the hotel (including Mrs B who shouted "You mental bastard! Don't just sit there gawping!" before scooping up her shoes and running off) but I sat there and watched as it rolled closer and eventually hit the beach.

It was like something from the End of Days and it lasted for about five minutes.

Ten minutes later the sun came out and everything was dry and nice again in about five minutes flat.

Brilliant experience that you just don't get over here.

I was walking home in the rain one evening from the bus stop maybe 5 minutes away. Decent downpour - then I suddenly stepped into an area of no rain. I could stand inches away from where it was raining, like a shower was turned on. A little further down the street, it was raining again. I'd never seen it like that before, or since. I've seen it as you describe, been running full tilt with the rain hot on my heels... but an area between rainfall - that was amazing to see.

Good topic this...

Rain is crap due to all the above mentioned reasons plus my paperwork gets wet if im outside.
I quite like the downpours in a hot country though.

1. Rain is depressing
2. It ruins my dog walks.
3. It means it isn't sunny.
