Wikipedia have got Clough down as being the current manager of Newcastle, so maybe they know something we don't.....

I'd like Lennon to stay and have a go at managing on a budget. He's been very strong on what he doesn't like so I'd like to see what he can do with players he does like - if he can get them with limited funds.
I think he's a good manager overall and could be very good for us if we stick with him.
We're still in the same situation we were in when we got relegated to some extent so we might as well let Neil have a run at the challenge. Much better than changing manager's yet again and the inevitable starting from the beginning that comes with it.

My point is, it may not be our choice.

He strikes me as the sort of bloke who won't take any shit, so as soon as the penny drops that Gartside tells more lies than Cameron's front bench and he's been had, he may well start using his network of contacts behind the scenes to engineer a potential move away and before you know it, he's been "tapped up" and is off to pastures new.

Worst injury list imaginable, took over a side that were looking at league 1 and turned us around. Beaten once at home in i don't know how many months. Lennon is class

I agree with you boggers. No manager in our recent history has had to juggle loan players/youth/OAP's like lennon has. And he has made it work. Not well enough to push on for a play off spot but i dont think ANY manager could have done a better job.

If the new season kicked off tomorrow and everyone was fit I doubt more than three players who played at Wigan would play.

Lennon has done a decent job. He came in when we were rock bottom and in disarray. His squad is full of the donkeys left by Freedman and he's had a ridiculous injury list to contend with. Despite that he's turned the Macron into a fortress not seen since Fat Sam's days and blooded a couple of exciting youngsters.

Yes, our away form is pitiful but with a couple of decent purchases in the Summer we will challenge the top 6 next season.

I agree.  You can't please everyone, but remember we had 5 bloody points and at the bottom of the table folks.  Lennon took Dougie's ponces and made them into winners at home.  We escaped relegation and, for me, that's great.  We're ten up with 7 to play.  I'm sure we would be mid table or higher had we not had the huge injury roster.  Give Lennon a chance to show us what we can do with whatever money there is and see how he does.  We gave Dougie over 2 years and we had the worst two starts in the history of the club. Give Lennon an opportunity and for my money, I hope he stays with us.

Can I just be clear - I'm honestly not having a pop at Lennon and I really hope he stays, clears all the shite out, continues to bring through some decent home-grown talent, signs half a dozen players who are all capable / interested in making a difference and we storm up the league next season.

I just have one or two concerns, that's all.

Not 48 hours into the job he stated that we had too many defensive midfielders, the reserves & youth teams were in disarray and never spoke to each other.  The general atmosphere around the club and other stuff left by Doggie was all crap. That changed in a month.
The football itself has been generally much better and more attack minded. Even a long shot at a top six was the mood for a little while.... Now most of us have some hope for next season were there was no hope under Doog.  I can't really see what more can be expected at this point from Neil.

It'll be interesting to see what Lennon can do in the summer.

It seems people are pretty confident - on the basis of the effect he's had on the club to date - that he'll clear out the deadwood and bring in a decent bunch of players.

Trouble is, I remember people having a similar faith in Coyle to clear out and replace Megson's crap signings and we all know how that went.

Personally, I still think Lennon has been a breath of fresh air. The honeymoon period was always gonna come to an end sometime, and it's good that the fans are still behind him, rather than creating the usual massive drama. How long will it last? Hopefully well into next season, but the crowd will get impatient long before Christmas if we're still a below mid-table side.

If Lennon has his way, the players on the roster next season will have discipline, desire and heart. No cowardly displays as we have seen so often this season. The fact that so many loanees will be available this summer for free, and so many others are out of contract, one would think they'd be playing out of their skin to earn a new contract here or elsewhere but that will need to be resolved.

I was very sceptical about Lennon but I've been impressed honestly, glad that he's not afraid to give some young lads a go as well.

away form is a concern though, will never challenge for anything if we can't pick up points away.

I like Lennon too but I'm just wondering if he's a bit of a dreamer when it comes to getting in the players he thinks will do a job. He talks about finding players with a certain profile but so far he talks hopefully of getting kids like Rochinha in but if I was his club I wouldn't be interested in shipping out kids in whom a lot of investment has been made - at least not cheaply. Plus Neil has already said that the door is open for Eidur and Emile next season so I'm just wondering what we'll end up with?
As you know, I'm fed up with all the chopping and changing of managers and if we are going to evolve in any particular style, at some point we're going to have to get behind a manager and support them through thick and thin. I'd like that person to be Lennon as he comes across as passionate about what he does, but I'm just concerned that he is talking a good fight but is unrealistic in what can be achieved in the transfer market and there's possibly a question over his loyalty.. We'll see.

Another made up claim.

He's had one managerial job which he held for 4 years before resigning. And not to go to another job like most managers.

So just about the most loyal manager out there then.

What "claim"? You are questioning if there is a "possibility"?

He could have been in the same job for three decades prior to becoming our manager but I don't see how that precludes the possibility he might be disloyal to us.

In fact I'd go further than that and say there IS a question over his loyalty because I'm asking it.

By your logic there's also a possibility he will quit his job to become a woman and live his life as "Nancy".

Lennon will not leave the club yet, he's still a lot to prove in England before any bigger clubs come calling. He will also want to prove to himself that he can turn us from relegation fodder to promotion challengers.. If he has us in the top 6 come christmas, when struggling prem managers are often sacked then that will be the time to worry.

Let's not forget he turned down millions in Saudi to come to us.

As for rochinha, I don't think he's good enough for benfica yet, highly likely that he'll return for another year imo.

So you actually bothered to read what I write properly for once before going off on one?

He may indeed. Just look what happened to Frank Maloney aka Kellie.
