SPACE INVADERS

Although I was very good at Colin McRae Rally on that playstation I think it was

No one on here would beat me at that.

The key was NEVER to brake and drift round corners by fethering the accelerator.

I trounced them all at that.

I can't remember what it was called but there was a Moto GP / World Superbikes game out in the late 80's in arcades that I was addicted to.

It had a set of handlebars with a throttle and a brake and it was brilliant.

Not one of those that came later with a faux motorbike chassis that you sat on and it pivoted depending on how you shifted your weight, it was just the handlebars.

We had one in the JCR at Brum and being 18 and having only ever having had Pong on our telly as a video game as a kid, I thought it was the absolute zenith of video gaming.

1 minute 23 seconds round Monza was my best.

And I only fell off twice.

I should have included Command and Conquer on my list.

I also have fond memories of a game whose name I can't remember. You played as an ancient Greek god and basically manipulated the land, causing it to rise or fall, turn into swamp or a volcano, etc. The aim of the game was to enable the tribe that worshipped you to beat the other tribes. I've always enjoyed god games and strategic games more than ones that depended on how fast you could hit the buttons on your controller.

Video games? Are we all American now?

Best game ever is Kick Off on the Atari ST, or maybe Kick Off 2, but either way I know I spent a huge part of my childhood playing the damn things. I even entered a Kick Off competition and got really far.

Special mention also goes to "The Double", possible the slowest football management game in history but I was addicted to it for a whole Summer one year - I only left my bedroom to eat and use the bathroom.

Much the same as now then

Command & Conquer was responsible for me smashing my Playstation up.

I'd spent about four hours assembling my army and building my base and I thought "Right, here we go - you're having it now!"

....then about ten seconds into the campaign a plane flew over, dropped a nuclear bomb and wiped the lot out.

Not impressed.

Kick off 2 was the worst game, score from the halway line by pulling down on the joystick and hitting shoot.

Sensible Soccer on the other hand was great.

You absolute bellend. Sensible Soccer was utter shite. No playability whatsoever.

If you slag Kick Off 2 again you won't like what happens.

See 1.50 on this video. Kick Off 2 had no gameplay just players that ran round like headless chickens and goalkeepers that couldn't save a shot if it was to high or curled slightly.
