Sandro... Evans... Shawcross... I see Michael is another poster who hasn't fully grasped the reality of not being in the Premier League with his transfer wishlist.

I can't believe we didn't go for Jay Rodriguez. He is a proven goalscorer at this level. I think I am right in saying he has joined Southampton. Surely he would have come to us with him knowing Coyle and not having to move away.
I think for defensive midfield position we should go for Sandro of Spurs. He had a good season last year and would be excellent in the Championship. It may cost £5m to get him but he'd be a great signing. I think Danny Murphy would do a good job for us in the Championship as well.
And for centre back we should go for someone like Shawcross or Johnny Evans. I think they would both do a good job in the championship.
I hope we'll sign some good players soon.
Yes Michael, established Premier League players are falling over themselves to drop down to the Championship.
You must try harder next time.

Those players wouldn't have joined us in the premier league, never mind the championship. Sorry Sandro, Shawcross and Evans are three ridiculous suggestions.
Jay Rodriguez has gone for £7million apparently, out of our league, and probably wouldn't of left burley for us now.

What would a Torquay fan know about players?

Maybe you could visit Bolton for the first time this Summer, do a tour of the Reebok or something.

Not having a pop at you, just your suggestions. I'd be looking at the best from league 1, lower end championship and any gems from abroad, low price, low wage and as we've seen with Norwich, Swansea, Blackpool, Tim Ream and Stuart Holden it can be done.

We usually don't sign anybody until 11:55pm on deadline day .....then the next day announce we were chasing several people but didn't get the deal done in time.
Don't you lot know our system by now?
Thankyou

Too true. I've said this before, if I was Owen Coyle I'd decide TODAY who I want to sign and go out and offer them contracts. I'd give them a week to decide. If they can't decide or say no he moves onto the next target.
So by the time pre-season starts he has his squad in place and the team can get a full pre-season together. Too often in recent seasons players have been signed at the last minute so we get the usual manager bollocks of "it'll take him a few weeks to gel with the team".
It's not rocket science to suggest teams that have played together over pre-season are more likely to hit the road running once the season kicks off.

Totally agree with the above, you look at what Fergie does at United more often than not. He gets his deals done early doors, has a team already in place for pre-season then the players know the system by the time the season starts.
Don't get me wrong I know we don't have the pulling power like United do but he must surely have a list of players who he wants to bring in by now?

Why does anyone think that new players will be coming in.
Two or three loans at the most. This is BWFC we are talking about here.

Erm, because all teams sign new players every Summer, that's why.
Even when we were in the 4th division we signed Brown and Cowdrill.

The one draw back to that is that if we sign players now we are paying them 2 months of wages before we even play a competitive game. with money tight at the club if we are paying someone £40,000 a week it will cost us £400,000 in wages before the season even starts.

No one will be getting £40k per week anymore.

ALL professional contracts start on 1st July of a given year and end on 30th June - these are league rules.
The reason Fergie gets people early is because players don't usually have a big decision to make when Man United come calling.

Why not? If we want a good defensive midfielder to replace NRC such as Sandro or Tiote we will have to pay that sort of wage.

Errrmm, Hat. When we were in the 4th, loan deals were not thought of.
There is no obligation to sign anyone and if PG can get away without signing a cheque he will.

Name a Summer where we haven't signed anyone (not counting loan players). Of course we will sign someone, we've just lost 10 players.
