Oh OK, so apparently we haven't signed anyone in 5 Summers out of the previous 135 and your original comment that we won't sign anyone this Summer "because this is BWFC" is completely valid I suppose.

We'd have won the league if Coyle had signed some players in the Summer of 1907.

(another) Errrrrr. I'm pretty new on this site (I might also be pretty too, depends which was round you hold the binoculars) but I don't know what this WUM is. Is it a sign that I have convincingly won the argument?
Anyway enough of all this, I'm off out now.

Really?
chipbutty wrote:There is no obligation to sign anyone and if PG can get away without signing a cheque he will.
Obviously inferred, don't be so pedantic..
Of course Gartside will sign new players, he always has, you don't get in 110 mill debt without spending. He can be accused of bad judgement or poor appointments, but if there is one thing he can't be accused of its being tight with funds, if anything hes been too liberal with them in the past.

I'm sure your mam thinks you're pretty anyway 'Butty'.
WUM = Wind Up Merchant.
It's all a bit of fun, or at least it is meant to be.
Some folk take things perhaps a little bit more seriously than the next person but generally speaking the banter on this site is a mixture of facts mixed in with a few whoppers and a fair amount of leg pulling which hopefully everyone ends up enjoying reading and contributing too and everybody then comes back for more.
That's the plan anyway!

I think I touched on this just before the January transfer window, but IMO we have three options to have a realistic chance of getting the players we need: 1) home grown - preferably youngsters coming through the ranks i.e the likes of Riley, Vela etc stepping up to the mark and proving they can hack it 2) sweeping the lower leagues including foreign lower leagues for affordable players who have good potential and/or something to prove and 3) the US of A/Canada - but especially the States. It's probably the only market in the world where we have any kind of advantage, specifically the presence of Stuart Holden and now Tim Ream plus we have toured there so we're not completely unknown to them. It is possible we could get prem rejects but the liklihood is that the wages would be too much for us in this time of austerity and/or they would be unlikely to be players to build a team on, so I think the 3 options above are preferable.
I'd like to see 2 CBs (ideally who can cover at FB if required) given our injury curse and a holding midfielder minimum but I'd be amazed if we actually get them. In fact I'd be amazed if the management actually recognise that if we are to play a relatively attacking line up we do need a solid defence to ensure that we don't concede as many as we score, but as always, I live in hope.

I would like to see us start a transfer policy of only signing players under the age of 22 who have potential. When I think we wasted all that money on Zat Knight and Elmander who both had no resale value, we could have signed 3 or 4 really exciting young talents that we could improve and sell on for bigger money.
I think that guy for Crewe who is highly rated would be a good signing. We should also go for Zaha of Palace and Redmond of Birmingham.

You need experience to get out of the Championship, our first and most important target should be a captain.

Who have you got in mind? I do agree with you there. We do need an experienced defensive midfielder who has a lot of experience. I think we could do a lot worse than signing Hayden Mullins or Nigel Quashie.

She's rather an attractive bint IMHO. But then there's no accounting for taste.

I think she's an ugly bint, most annoying character in the show too can't stand her.

THE latest player to be linked with Wanderers is Senegal winger Modou Sogou.
The Whites are reported to be facing competition from fellow Championship side Leicester City for the technically gifted African, who has played most of his football in Portugal.
