Is it Monday yet? I'm anxiously waiting to hear that Zat Knight has left the club.

Slovakia international goalkeeper Dusan Pernis is looking to impress scouts in his country's upcoming friendlies against Poland and Holland.
The 27-year-old shot-stopper is out of contract this summer after completing the season with Dundee United and is available on a free transfer.
Pernis has been selected in joint-coaches Stanislav Griga and Michal Hipp's squad for the friendlies in Austria and Rotterdam respectively.
The keeper's impressive season for the Tangerines has attracted attention from a number of Championship clubs with Bolton and Cardiff City among others in the hunt.[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

Coyle gave Knight until last Monday to reply to his accept/reject offer of a new contract. It's about time we were told whether he's staying or going. Or is attention to details like this not important enough for the club supporters?

Its not the end of the world if Knight has left. I have drawn up a short list of defenders we can go for who will improve us and who I think their clubs would sell if we offer the right money.

No offence but they are very unrealisitic targets, maybe Evans if we were still in the premier league but none of the above would give us the time of day.
David Luiz?....That one is a wind up surely.

I've just seen on another website that Coyle is targetting Matt Mills from Leicester . Does anyone know anything about him?
Why would a team that is favourites to win the Championship sell us a player- when we're regarded as serious opposition to them to get promoted? Unless he's crap.
I got it from the Mirror- so it might just be an invention anyway.

The Matt Mills story is a Nixon one so i assume there is some truth to it.
reading the reaction of the Leicester fans they're delighted, he's apparently been a total flop and they paid over 4 million for him.

Great. Assuming we get rid of Knight we have the ideal replacement lined up.

Here's some interesting reading on him.
He made his league debut in a 1-0 win over Coventry City at the Ricoh Arena on 6 August 2011,[11] On 16 October, Mills was sent off in the 55th minute of a 2–0 defeat at Birmingham City for a two-footed tackle on Morgaro Gomis.[12] and he was sent off again 6 weeks later against Hull City for a professional foul on Aaron McLean.[13]
He scored his first goal for the club in a 2-0 win over Southampton at St Mary's Stadium on 24 January 2012.[14]
In February 2012, following rumours of a bust up with new manager Nigel Pearson,[15] Mills lost the captaincy and fell down the pecking order behind Sean St. Ledger, Wes Morgan and Sol Bamba.
He did not train with the squad or travel for the 1-0 victory against Derby County on 23 February 2012, prompting questions over his future at the club.[16] He was later linked with league rivals Leeds United and West Ham United.[17]
Though this move away from the club did not materialise, he did not make another appearance for the club during the rest of the 2011-12 season.

Bolton are being linked with a move for Republic of Ireland international Darren O'Dea as doubts surround the future of Zat Knight.
Wanderers are still waiting for a decision from Knight as to whether he will pen a new deal on reduced terms and boss Owen Coyle is looking at alternatives should he turn it down.
Following the long-term injury to David Wheater, Coyle will still need another central defender even if Knight stays, and O'Dea is reported to be on his list of targets.
The 25-year-old is available on a free transfer following his release from Celtic and a host of Championship clubs including Wanderers and Burnley are being linked.
O'Dea is currently with the Republic of Ireland squad preparing for Euro2012 but is expected to make a decision once the tournament is over.

I'v been to Celtic park a few times as I sometimes work up there. I've seen him play. You're not going to like it if he arrives!! If he can't hack it in the SPL, he's not going to hack it here!
We'd still be better off with Knight

The Scottish Premier League is like our League 1. Signing players from that league is suicide.

I would say Celtic and Rangers are about the same standard as Wolves, Cardiff, Bolton etc etc. That kind of level.
the rest are bottom of the championship standard.
That said I've never seen a scottish game where neither team can pass the ball.

Not sure I would brand any scottish team outside Rangers and Celtic as championship quality, teams like Bury and Oldham could probably hold their own against them.
Both O'dea and Mills are 2 defenders I know very little about but I can't imagine either are as bad as Knight.

And teams like Macclesfield held their own against us.
The quality of the scottish league is absolutely dire, but people do underestimate it somewhat. Celtic, Rangers, Hearts, Motherwell, Dundee Utd could hold their own in the championship.
the rest would seriously struggle IMO. Inverness and Ross country would probably struggle in league 2.
