Can't. I've got the local election count in Bath. In general election in Bath, there was a 16k swing against us, as a council we may be wiped out. I last went to bed 38 hours ago

Had a 3 hour power cut down here. Just got back online.
See what happens when the Tories get back in.
Then my new Labour membership card arrives in the post. Ha!
I'm going to buy a dog just so I too can find a tree to sit under.

Your lot are just another minority party on the Opposition benches and he can (and probably will) ignore you.
If you seriously think that you're any closer to home rule than you were last night, I would respectfully suggest that that's bollocks.
And be careful what you wish for.
There's going to be an increasingly large degree of anti-Scottish sentiment peddled in the media after this result, as Cameron manipulates the press against your lot to further his agenda and the English public who had previously seen you lot as benign allies in all this will fall for it and when the next referendum on independence does come (and it will) a lot of English people will be putting pressure on the government to cede you fuck all and try and cripple Scotland if you lot do vote "yes" this time.
But you lot probably will vote "yes" to break up the Union next time and you may well wind up fucked as a result.
I think we're closer to having a proper voice in Westminster, thats it, Miliband offered us no powers either, it's genuine Scottish opposition in Parliament for the first time.
I'll ignore all the other bias nonsense about how we'll be "fucked" (no reason why) and why would Cameron and passionate unionist cede "fuck all" to Scotland and try and cripple the union.. deary me.
The smith commission has already come back, further devolution is coming our way, this result proves we want it.

A proper voice in Westminster.....?
Yeah, let's see how far that gets you.......
You can't half tell you lot are new to this Westminster Politics thing......
And I think you were being a tad disingenuous by describing what I wrote as "bias nonsense". (sic)
(It's "biassed" by the way.)
I was just offering up my genuine objective view on how I see things going.
I honestly think it'd be a shame if you lot left the Union because you're an important part of Britain but I'm not overly arsed if you do.
I just don't think it'll all be shortbread and Buckfast when it does happen because the SNP's plans for an independent self-sustainable Scottish economy without help and financial input from England are far too short-sighted, ill conceived and generally laughable.
But you've had a good 24 hours and it'd be churlish of me to spoil it with a dose of reality, so feel free to chalk this comment down as simply just some more anti-Scots rhetoric from one of those pricks who still thinks that the Labour Party is ok.

I'm passed reading all his drivel, they can fuck off tomorrow for me. They get more capita per head than the English under the Barnett formula and still they're not happy. These twats will not be happy till they've got their independence so let them have it. In my experience their Engineering Base is lacking, propped up somewhat by previously mentioned Poles, but if whisky can provide a staple export and riches then good luck to them.bwfc1874 wrote:Soul Kitchen wrote:Hipster_Nebula wrote:Breadman wrote:Quick (and serious) question for Hipster:
Are you not concerned that the SNP may have done a bit too well?
By that I mean, presumably, the plan was always to punish Labour and hopefully take enough seats so that if the Tories were the largest party at Westminster but didn't have a majority, they'd need support from you lot to get anything through Parliament.
However, it all went a bit too well and you wiped Labour out and, in doing so, handed the election to the Tories and gave them a workable majority in the Commons, so they don't now need your lot.
So yes, you may have fifty odd MP's sitting on the opposition benches, but they're powerless.
Can you see Sturgeon doing deals with whoever the next Leader of The Opposition is to try and claw back some of the power she hoped she would achieve by giving the Labour Party a bloody nose?
And do you think whoever the next Labour Leader is will be interested or will he or she be more focussed on taking Scotland back from your lot?
No malice in any of that, purely interested in your opinion, mate.
Labour wiped themselves out, they won't be able to rebuild until they realise that, and clearly they haven't considering some of the hateful and bitter comments their ousted MP's engage in on social media.
not only did they lose Scotland with their arrogant and selfish campaign, they lost England with a weak leader and feeble economic policy. At least they convinced Russell Brand.
You can never do too well in an election, this result gives them power Ed wasn't willing to grant them, he played a game with the Scottish people and lost. Cameron wants English only powers and he'll know with that comes the kind of home rule we all want up here thats real power.
Dodged the question like Boris Johnson!
In fairness no he didn't.
Try reading it.
Unfortunately I've spent a big chunk of my working life under Tory rule so not much different when I got up this morning.

Scotland is effectively a one party state. They might hold virtually all the seats but they still don't have any power. The Scottish people have deserted their labour roots on a tide of Nationalist euphoria even though they voted against independence.
The SNP can expect no favours from Cameron nor are they likely to get any. Perhaps they should start paying for their University tuition fees and prescriptions? That will give them something to genuinely complain about.

He just stood on the steps of downing street and said he wanted Holyrood to be the most powerful devolved government in the world.
I don't suspect 56 SNP MP's have got anything to do with that.
Though I am "new to this westminster thing"
Hope I've spelt that all right.

Yeah, 'cos politicians never tell lies and just say what they think people want to hear, do they...?
He'd dead straight that nice Mr Cameron - very trustworthy.

You seem quite het up about a country you want to "fuck off" that would be "fucked" without the help of the English, no evidence for that of course but perfectly objective opinion.
It's called patience, we've sent our message, Cameron has said those words and he'll be held to account by a large amount of MP's who actually give a shit about Scotland.
thats how democracy works... well, so I've been told.

Show me where I've said I wanted Scotland to "fuck off", either on this thread or any other.
(I actually said the opposite in one of my previous comments.)
All I'm saying is, having 56 MP's sat on the Opposition Benches in Westminster is worth fuck all now that the Tories have got the majority they need, so don't expect too much from them.
Because they're powerless.

You're right I apologise that was Karlypants who wants us to fuck off.
I understand Westminster politics, they don't have the power they wanted, they sit in opposition. I think it's clear most people south of the border don't understand how exciting it is to come together as a nation and completely change the political landscape of our country, voting for positive messages and policies.
Thats it, don't really understand the antagonism and aggression (mainly from SK and KP granted.)

Fair enough, apology accepted and I apologise in return for resorting to making cheap jibes about spelling - that was just childish of me.
I honestly get where you're coming from on the SNP changing the political landscape thing and that must be a fantastic feeling but are you not at least a little bit concerned at where it will ultimately lead?
True independence will mean that Scotland has to stand completely alone and generate its own wealth to pay for services and everything else but is it capable of doing so?
Where will the revenue come from?
There are only about 2.7 million tax-payers in Scotland and the oil and gas is running out fast, so what's the long-term plan?
Do you really believe that Scotland can survive economically without sharing the pooled resources of a properly United Kingdom?
Personally, I don't and nor do I think enough Scots have thought properly about this because they've all been swept up on a tide of patriotic fervour, without properly considering the consequences.
Time will tell and I'm certainly not going to fall out with you about it.
What's your favourite cheese?
