I've never won a bean on the Goldline in over 25 years.

But I just can't bring myself to cancel it.

i have an NHS pension so it seems fairly good although they are making changes to it now which means i wouldn't get all my pension till state retirement age of 67. I could go early but they would take 5 percent per year off me  Sad

What is the point of paying into it then?

Live for today, 67 ?

i'm planning on living a lot longer than that Scott, what else am i going to live on? A state pension won't be enough thats for sure. I have other savings in place as well just in case.

Just saying, all them years paying in, then you don't benefit the freedom until you're 67, that's if there is still anything left.

Seems odd.

i take it you don't have a pension then Scott? What are you going to do when you get old and wan't to retire?

With the way things are going the retirement age will be 70 in the near future, i certainly won't be working that long that's for sure.

I won't be working a day past 60, im going to buy a big house this year , or next year, then downsize when i want to retire, thats my pension, plus things change, might get a couple of houses or caravans handed down.

I won't be getting scared off the government, or working as an old man, id rather be in a home.

Just get to 67 then go out and kill someone, get sent to prison,  you don't have to pay taxes or anything.

Cheaper than an old folks home as well so your family won't have to fork out for that.

Scary to say this but i actually thought of that myself. Not killing someone but getting sent to prison. Three square meals a day. Nice secure compound. Daily exercise. On call care. No bills.

But then you would be shitting on the wife and kids.

What would happen to your assets if you we're on your own?

In Bolton you only get 6months free council tax if the property is empty!

Retirement kills you. My Grandfather still works in ASDA and loves it.

I knew there would be a flaw in it somewhere.  I will have to abandon my plan to kill someone and start paying it to a pension. Thanks Karly for putting me back on the straight and narrow.

Kids will be old enough and looking after themselves. I'd sell all my stuff and give them the money anyway. My missus will have left me years before this. Surprised she is still here now.

I've got it all figured out.

Should you really trust the government though, id rather be in control of my future, pensions keep changing all the time, and at any point they could do what they want, they could put the age up to 70 to draw your pension, and say you could draw it at 60 but we're taking 5% per year off.
