Tinned Toms - You know it makes sense!
Would be nice, as would Vydra. We're probably just as likely to sign Benzema before the window closes unfortunately.y2johnny wrote:forestieri

My guess would be this Rammy:
I would imagine that Madine was signed as a target man to hold the ball up, put himself about and generally cause mayhem whilst others join the attack - basically what Heskey does and what SKD and others have done before him. Dobbie is a clever attacking midfielder probably seen as back-up for Mavies. Clough is the second striker and after last season's performance Neil had every reason to believe he'd score a hatful. Only this season he now has a reputation and has been marked tightly so far - something that Clough isn't used to and has yet to find a solution for.
Failure to score comes down to quality of service and quality of finishing but we don't have the funds to buy both so it makes sense to consolidate the defence and introduce an attacking RB (Pisano) and loan Wellie on the wing to provide better service than Feeney has been able to.
Which implies that Neil is backing Madine and Clough to start scoring now that they and the midfielders who should be able to push on a bit more - in theory at least - will be getting more quality chances. But if the money will stretch to it, I'm sure he'd like a better striker than Clough to come in whilst the lad continues his development.
He could have gone the other way and bought a quality striker, but what's the point if there's no decent service? Of course, we'd like both.

Strange comment. Any evidence that he has done this- or is this just part of a general witch hunt.Hipster_Nebula wrote:As usual Gartside has pocketed the fee necessary to make that move!!>>>!!!!
Was there ever any money for him to pocket.
I'm indifferent to Gartside - but sometimes a bit of reality about the parlous state of our finances wouldn't go amiss.
There is no money- we owe a fortune to a host to outside creditors and saying that every part of that is Gartsides fault is simply an unsupportable assertion .
Nobody likes the state that we are in- but laying 100% of the blame at Gartsides door is too easy

Gartside gets abuse right left and centre. I couldn't really give a monkeys about him. But there are others who might also be partly responsible for the state that we are in.
People like the other directors at the club, some of Eddie Davies' fellow directors and their advisors, Sam Allardyce, Sammy Lee, Megson ,Coyle and perhaps even Lennon.
Players- too many to mention who have come here for fat pay packets and then parasited on us before going off for the next big golden hello.
All of them have contributed to the catastrophic state that our finances are in - yet almost all the abuse seems to go to Gartside.
I don't feel particularly sorry for the guy but there's a whole army of people who have contributed to the current mess.
